where do you guys get cotton rags?

I’ve had mixed bags of clothes before but sometimes you get polyester blends and stuff that’s useless.

I buy them out of the local motorfactors, ask for the all cotton ones instead of the mixed bags, not much dearer and you get a bag of all white 100% cotton rags. Some of the synthetic fabrics in the mixed bags are like using grease proff paper to clean off oil

Charity shops who have the clothes bins will most likely sell rags.

My old work CAN offshore get bags of cotton rags. Give them a call in Aberdeen and ask to speak to the storeman Robert, grumpy guy but should be able to tell you.

I have been struggling with this for years Brad, the mixed bags of rags are always a disappointment and usually contain rags that are too big, too small, too thick, too thin or just not suitable as workshop rag. I have resorted to buying Aldi tea towels as hand wipes and using blue roll for mop ups, the tea towels can go in a bucket of tfr for a soak, rinse out and reuse. This only takes a few minutes and is worth doing, not yet found anything better.

The blue workshop towels/hand wipes off ebay are thinner and smaller than the aldi towels, they too are a rayon type mix so wont be buying any more of those.

You can get 10kg of T. Shirt rags for about £15 on eBay in a vacuum bag. They had some at the bike shop and there's quite a lot in them.

Friendly with a local hairdresser? Offer them a few quid for old towels. Best rags you'll ever get. I've a 25kg sack of them atm
