If you don't want it Hood I will certainly take it off your hands. My Grandad used to collect machine parts and engineering bits and pieces too. When my Grandma complained he never did anything with them, he replied "it's not what I do with them. It's what I could do with them..."
Why not make him a wooden leg? (use dogwood - you can tell it by its bark)

I was the same but end up running out of room. I have used the others for parts for other things.
PM your post address and I will send it off, prob be mid next week though as I have the dog to take for his Op on Monday and prob pick him up Tues so won't be able to be at the workshop when the courier usually comes.

3 days searching for a supplier - usually every other size available but 3/4, or its a month on back order, or it’s 19mm..well
19mm isn’t 3/4”! 19.05 is, and that .05mm is s lot, when you offset the holes slightly to start with!

Liberated this from a skip, 3 x 3 m popup gazebo, flipping heavy, steel version with proper sealed seam tarp roof.
Quite happy with myself as I was going to buy one.

Feels odd driving in heavy rain after the months of hot weather but I still diverted and legged it to a favourite old shop.

Good news.
I am earning more brownie points with Mrs TYA. I hung out the washing. Not my fault it rained, set the dishwasher up and put another load in washing machine.
Not my fault it rained.
But in work shop I am clearing space and cracking on with those "5 minute jobs"
I will show.
This lump hammer was stripped down, cleaned and a new shaft fitted.
The shaft was a brought item, cheaper that way. As it comes with a wooden and metal wedge.
Shaft well coated in linseed oil and when it is dry a good coat of hard wax.
All the other hammers have bean done, all needed a dam good clean, stain and lacquer finish.
Same with the screwdrivers. The tips are a perfect fit for the screws in most of the hand saw handle screws. So they have a future.
Striped, cleaned, lubricated. All new wooden handles.
The axe, cleaned up and the head primed up. Now waiting on the first top coat to dry. Then the edge will be sharpened.

These arrived from either somewhere either in a very remote part of the UK or China - eBay listing did say located in UK but they've taken a week or two to arrive. Either way, for less than a tenner each they'll replace the old ones in the kids' helmets in the workshop at school; sealed units so the batteries are fortified within! These are too but the old ones lasted three years or so.
