It is cast would that matter

But the motor shaft isn’t long enough either. The only idea I had was to make a sleeve for the shaft and the pully would need boring out but I don’t have a lathe

Just did a little test piece, it's thin but I don't think so thin you'll need to bore the pulley out.

Lemme know how long the shaft is and how long the part needs to be and I'll make it for you.

Is the white paint the stuff you’re stripping? Lots of drips and I can see where the holes have been filled! I personally think a 1950s motor complements the curves of these machines, those old ones are virtually impossible to kill, too.

Do you think it would work I know someone else who doesn’t think extending the shaft would work for that long ( only a year or two ) and be strong enough but I don’t see why not

My motor shaft is also a bit undersize. My plan was to shim it with aluminium foil.

that's no use 1.8mm bigger than the motor shaft bore the pulley out larger then sleeve it giving enough meat on the sleeve

Haven’t got anywhere to bore it out so ‘maker’ Was my best option of just giving it a go and hoping for the best

Preferably would take out 1-2mm from the pulley

The pulleys are cast iron unlike the alloy ones in most other bench drills. Why not just get a motor to fit than waste time and risk bodging a fix?

Oops, that's much longer than I was expecting. You could possibly get away with it but it's really pushing it, a tight belt on the highest speed might fatigue and break the spacer right at the end of the shaft after a few months use.

I agree with Diesel, the old motor will look a lot nice than these new aluminium finned ones...

Just checked, mine is a BTH 1/3hp running 1440rpm.
