Best cure for flies in the kitchen is a barrow full of warm manure in the living room, tip from an old workmate of mine. O never actually tried it but it sounds plausible to me.

Last summer i had an influx of bluebottles into my workshop, very shortly afterwards the stink became apparent. A dead mouse or two in the roof cavity. Every year they get in there & i put some poison in to rub them out.
Wouldnt mind but im not taking the risk of them chewing my wiring!
Just put some more down yesterday.

Not me. But a lodger we had left an ice cream box of soaked black eye beans in his fishing bag in our garage, after a week of hot weather they stank to high heaven, i honestly thought there was a dead body in there.
