Bearing stuck in place

I'm trying to separate this "starting torque compenstor" bearing from the hub upright, its item 77 that I'm trying to remove (the cir-clips are out already).

I borrowed a 10 ton hydraulic puller but it made no impact at all, any suggestions on how to get it off.

It fits together like this.

Thats froze in...mucho local heat with oxxy or the very least MAP gas and have the puller under strain...you should hear a loud "crack" as it lets go

I don't want to damage the bearing if I can help it, Mercedes charge £500 for a replacement although they can be got in Germany for £100.

Well pulling to hard against the races will destroy it anyway mate..i would call it lesser of 2 evils

Is the top part not a retaining ring if it is try taping round that first with a soft faces hammer rather than using heat a long shot would be to use pipe freeze on the shaft and see if it would shrink a fraction

before everything gets unreadable, write the bearing numbers down..........then go check the web........I had what I thought was a special bearing in a machine (German), turned out to slightly special but a fraction of the cost from a SKF........

wanted to order a set of brake shoesand a hub bearing for a German (again) trailer direct from the factory...(shoes very different), they quoted €45 for the bearing, took the other hub off and checked the numbers........
Guess what ?.... Vauxhall Astra rear hub bearing ----so just a few quid.........

If you want to save the bearing you really need to be pressing on the outer race and using a proper press.

i would try a local garage that has a hydraulic press, it dont look too rusty so a go with a man sized press should have it sorted

looks like your pressing on the inner race, so the bearings will be moving out of position and exspanding the outer race, locking it in?

No, I'm pushing on the the central part of the hub carrier.

I see now, but your still not on the part connected to the inner race? your pulling the outer race via the forged part.

Yes, no choice, its impossible to get in to the inner race, I decided to leave it as is and protect the bearing when it goes to get blasted.

I used a shop press for this today, worked no problem.

Then knocked the bearings out.

I was surprised to find the are a double row 15mm wide bearing.

Mercedes want £600 each for new bearings, I've ordered two here for £15 each.
