The rabbit comes out the hole goes around the the tree and back down the hole, I know the story but what's that got to do with tying knots ?Disappointed no story about the rabbit and the tree![]()
Yup, I use a bowline when going up a mast as it's an easy one to undo after it's had load on it but as Dan says you have to be careful when it's unloaded.I’d go for a double figure 8, same as you would use for climbing, a bowline can run through if unloaded.
That is a really good idea, since nylon rope floats if you tie it on then when you get the magnet stuck you'd be leaving the rope as a hazard for others to get snagged on, at least with a plain loop you can remove the rope and only leave the magnet behind.I would pass half the rope through the eye and tie/tape the 2 ends together using anything.
Keep the 2 ends on the bank that way if the magnet gets really stuck on anything you can undo the knot and pull the rope out.
That way you only loose the magnet rather than the rope as well.
you can remove the rope and only leave the magnet behind.
