Hello, I don't know whether this is the place to be posting this but a lot of scouring the internet has led me here. I was hoping some kind person could point me in the right direction.
The very heavy old door chain (specifically the loop on the bracket that attaches to the door frame) on the front door of my house (built in 1930) has snapped. I've superglued it back together but I doubt it would withstand a good shove.
All of the new doorchains are much smaller. I've already got loads of old holes in the door, if I replace the doorchain with a smaller one, it will leave an unholy mess!
Does anyone know whether a welder could join the snapped part together, or attach the old chain to a new similar sized frame bracket so that I don't have to replace the part on the door itself?
Or (possibly slightly off topic) does anyone know whether similar sized doorchains can be bought anywhere? The door slider part is 14.5 x 4.5 cm. Please see attached photo.
Would be grateful for any suggestions.
