Hose coupling indentification

Just had a message from my mate, he says the clamps that came with them style of pumps were more like this, a hinged clamp made of brass. They replaced them with steel ones as the brass ones used to go walkies. He says he'll have a root for me and see if he can find 2.

Thats a tri clover clamp used in the pharma industry, its not the correct one for the fitting shown, I suspect its an older camlock type you need

my pump man says "hose tail, use a clamp or a jubilee clip". I've got Mikalor type fittings at work, when I've found the correct size I'll let you know.

Do you need hose as well?

No way - that's a clamp for joining two tapered metal flanges, like an industiral vee band clamp. I had one on the exhaust outlet of my turbo on my bike.

I think that recess is designed for wiring a hose to the outlet. They wrap many turns of wire closely around the hose where it's in the recess making a really secure fixing. Looks very tidy and probably superior to a banded clamp.

Thanks for the offer, I'm hoping to reduce the hose size a bit as for showing it will only be pumping water into a tank then back to the pump so I've got to have a think about it.

These are what we use on the small water pumps we have. Internal diameter is 1 7/8th so a bit smaller than yours but the male fitting is very similar to yours
