Pocket tool kits.

So we've discussed the joys of multi-tools, leathermans etc.
For the last six months whenever I go to my local supplier of car bits i keep on drooling over the facom pocket kit. But it's 90 odd euros. So today i found this, roughly the same, probably not guaranteed for life but approximately 15 quid. Mini 1/4 inch ratchet and all the gubbins.

It's probably not facom quality, but hopefully it will save me a lot ooff tooing and froing. 6,7,8,10,11 and 13 mm sockets plus the normal torx and other stuff.

Ive got a Leatherman. My son bought it for me as a birthday present, years ago. Looking at them recently I couldnt believe how much they cost. I think one similar to mine is about £80....Its got Pliers, 2 knives, screwdriver, can opener.......If I bought all these items seperately they would cost a lot less and work better

But they wouldn't fit in your pocket and would likely cause an injury if you managed to fit them in

Id be more interested in a leatherman if you could customise.
Dont need tin or bottle opener. Rather have a better selection of drivers and a bradawl. Small chisel/scraper would be useful too.
Id consider buying one then.

I have a leatherman wave, it's great, but I'm paranoid about losing it cos of the price. If I ever do lose it I'll buy a ten quid copy. It's been in my front right pocket for four years. Get used daily, I know it's there 'cos of its weight, it's got a nice bit of yellow string attached to it so I can pull it out quickly.

In my pockets I've got my phone, wallet, leatherman and this new toolkits a bit bulky but gfeat .

Time. Lol. Or a lack thereof.

Id spend all that time doing it and probably never use it anyway. Or lose it.

My 3 main systainers are my leatherman equivalent. Contains all my drills bits screwdrivers hammers clamps punches chisels planes etc. Bulk of the tools I need everyday.
Might have to add a 4th to the stack.

I haven't looked recently but in the USA you used to be able to order custom Gerber multitools with the items that you wanted and different colours

Something else to remember. They are not allowed on Planes. Ive lost 3 or 4 Swiss Army knives that way. I posted one back to myself twice but sometimes I just havent had the time. I used to keep them on my key ring but I had to stop as I kept forgetting until I was stopped. Fortunately a couple of them were the corporate gift variety.....freebie with a company logo.

Ive got this other thing that I bought in France. Its a can opener, corkscrew, bottle opener and theres a spike thing .....its lethal...but its been through the X Ray machines in my pocket and Ive never been stopped.

Hi, That's how I got two of my multi tools when I worked at the airport, as gifts from passengers flying out who didn't want to see them confiscated and destroyed.

I once found a car boot in Norfolk and there was a guy with boxes full of scissors etc. He said they were what had been confiscated at an Airport.....no swiss army knives though....you must have had them all

My leatherman already in the suitcase going in the baggage. Carry on it would have been confiscated. However I managed to forget a waiters friend, which got xrayed and I carried on to the plane. Imagine trying to hijack a plane with a corkscrew!

Hi, It's all about reducing the risk and responding to the latest threat. It's also about desperate people and if they were threatening to jab a corkscrew in your eye wouldn't you do what you were told?
