Delivery drivers!!

Arranged to have a package picked up today. Had to nip out myself but the wife waited in to be sure to not miss the collection.
Suprise, suprise got home & found a sorry we missed you note in the letterbox.
Anybody know where they buy their special sponges to knock on the door.?

the other day I was sitting in the front room 5ft from the front door, he ignored the bell and knocked so quietly I hardly heard it, by the time I got up and opened the door he was almost out the gate....and that wasn't the first time it's happened?

Not even a Ninja delivery driver would get past our 4 legged doorbell he's looking out of the window before they even get out of the van.

I now have a note on the door instructing all delivery drivers that just because they don't get a answer at the door to look round the yard I live on a working farm and it is very rare for there not to be some one on the yard there is 5 of use all capable of signing for a package and making sure it gets to the right person

Hi, On another forum I'm on, one of the members is a courier driver and they are instructed to ignore notes on doors redirecting items because it could be thieves putting them there to get their hands on the parcel.

Delivery driver knocked on the door last week, gave it two taps stuck a note through the letter box and about turned.
I was behind the door picking up the mail and before I could get it opened he was back at his van. Tried telling me he was going back to get the package
Needless to say he got a lug full.

Thats fair enough if the notes on the outside colin but I tape mine on the inside if I'm round the back in the barn or workshop so thieves can't have put it on the inside.

If there's a field for instructions to the courier on order forms I put "Give the doorbell a good ring". The bell push is at eye level and you'd be surprised how many people can't see it.

But mine now look for some one or go to the farm house that's about 80 m away I have not had a problem since it was put up

Surely if they've gone to the trouble of actually driving to you and finding your address etc, they'd persevere with the last bit of actually giving you the parcel?

Got one the other day left a card through, needed a degree in hieroglyphics to translate it. Ended up finding which neighbour it had been left with via process of elimination, Ie knocking on everyone’s door in turn

they knock on our door hard . by the timei get up for the door keys there knocking again for Christ sake 2 seconds later there pegging it reason is they have limited time to get them all delivered so if they get behind they just ditch it and put card through doors and catch up . its like would u work over if u weren't getting any overtime pay

Ive been down the garden and the Delivery Man has appeared. Some put stuff in the bin, some just round the back of my house, some leave stuff in the Porch. I find its the Post Office men that leave those notes.

While they are in the van many are GPS gps tracked and logged, so the bit between your door and the van is where they can gain some time up.
We have problems with Parcel Force, the driver will not use the bell and just lightly touches on the door, even worse when the text delivery estimate times are often out by roughly 2 hours.

The numpties this morning didn’t even give an estimate of time they’d arrive. Anytime between 8 & 8.
Have had drivers in the past ring me when they were an hour away, why can’t they all do it.

Im sorry to hear of all these horror stories... I feel very fortunate as we've been very lucky with deliveries where we live. No problems with Royal Mail (aside from the odd collection at nearest sorting office) or Amazon deliveries... or even myHerpes!

Most reliable of all has always been DPD. Their drivers have always been bang on time, utterly friendly, have helped my wife lift heavier stuff inside, some of them know the dogs names and ask after them - I've shown one the workshop, had a blether and left a bottle of beer with them for when they get home.

It isn't a job I'd fancy doing and I'm sure they're under immense pressure from employer and recipient.

Sadly, I fear I'm in a minority!

I have loads of parcels delivered by all sorts of delivery firms. The only one that gave me grief was UKMail where the Brazilian driver was in the habit of leaving parcels on the front wall beside the farm gate refusing to drive in - on at least one occasion some very expensive and potentially dangerous veterinary medicines. I managed to catch him one time and asked him why explaining the problem - turns out he is scared of dogs so I introduced him to our two Vizslas who are soft as anything and made a fuss over him. Since then we've had no trouble and he comes in with a cheery smile

I'm on first name terms with most of the drivers, who will wave to me if we meet on the road. This includes the Postman (Steve), the Parcelforce man (Adrian), the UPS man (Mac) The Hermes girl (Angie) etc etc
