Need a work vehicle ?

Ford Mondeo ? not had one myself, but took a look at one when looking for another car. I was looking for a family car and it surprised me on the size of the boot they have. You could easily put a pushchair and the weekly shop in them & have room to spare.

I'm on my 5th Volvo estate, had all the models since 850 to 2010 V70

They suit my driving position perfectly and I can drive them all day long with no issues. There are lots of people on the internet saying the latest ones aren't proper Volvos and aren't as good. I think that depends if you get one of the Volvo power unit IE 5 cylnders. All the ones I have had have been great to drive but the latest is very good, only downside is it not great on fuel but it is does ride really well. They can be heavy on tyres too.

I had a couple of late 90s 1.8d Mondeo estates.
They are huge - not quite as big as the vaux omega or ovlov 740 but a fair old size.

And VERY cheap to run. Half the cost of a 2l petrol omega iirc

My wife drives for her Saturday job and the have Fiat vans. The have all had gearbox problems going into reverse and the interior trim breaks and rattles as well.

If this is for the business think about where you will be going aswell ie are there any low emmision zones and so on where you will be working

Pk its between the Jag estste, Volvo Xc70 and Yeti.

Top at the minute is the Volvo for best build quality. Will go car shopping and looling over the three of them this Saturday. Should be quite out do ti some body getting marrurd. I believe its a big bash. Yawn yawn

the jaguar X types are quite small inside which is strange as they are based on a mondeo, plus they have issues with rust.

Mondeos are renown for sub frame bushes going and Injectors going that have to be recoded to the car. I've driven countless mondeos both hatch and estates as a Taxi driver. A fair few high milers. Most things are fairly cheap to replace and looked after they are good for 250k+

Hyundai terecan could be had with that budget and has all the underpinnings of a mk2 shogun

Anyway in the end i am going for an 08 plate Jag X Type estate 2.2D. Nice car if i can get it. Will let you know how i get on finger crossed.

Update after a massive hassle pain in the rear with choosing a car and getting one before its sold.

Got a 2008 Jag X type 22.D SE estate.

Yes not exactly a work car but vans as said are out of insurance budget and this is still cheap with business use to carry tools etc.

Sods law it is so far away in Nottingham but i know wat i wantedand style and if i am paying over 4x the amount i have even paid fro a car in my file it has to be what i want no less. I have got tickets for the train week a Saturday and cheap which is good an di will treat SWMBO on the trip and a meal out.

This is the beauty so 8 sleepless nights to go.

I will be making a full canvas boot liner and maybe sign write the rear windows once the rear doors are blacked out.


OMG cant wait even though i am not mad on modern cars
