Hope it goes well and is sorted quickly. Scary story for you, not about the operation but when I was going in for check up after bladder op I was following an older gent in an Astra (older than me that is) and he was sat at the car park ticket machine for a good 2 minutes. I said to my wife I'll go and help him and I went down to the front and hit the ticket button to which he shouted at me " I've not put my money in yet" (There is no slot, you pay on exit) I handed him the ticket and explained how it works and said I would show him the other machine where you pay. He said "thanks I'm nearly late already and I'm here to have my cataracts done" I let him park before I proceeded and then showed him the other machine and he insisted he was going to be fine to drive home in a couple of hours.

@pedrobedro That's why I was keen to get them done, before I reached that stage.....
Advice re driving [at least up here] seems to vary. Friend was told 6 weeks, but the Doc told me when I asked, that as long as you can satisfy regulations for reading a number plate as per the Highway Code, you're good to go.
I know that in Oz and 'Murica it's one week, but I'll be playing it by ear - I'm daft enough as it is, without becoming a menace on the road into the bargain.

So have I....I cant now as I cant see well enough when they darken
Im told theres a small cut into which the rolled up lens in inserted. Not sure until its in place then they dissolve the existing lens with a laser type thing...whatever that is

The surgeon who did Mrs Robo's eyes said some folks are OK to drive the day following the op, you just have to put the cover they provide over your eye each night for a few days to stop any accidental scratches overnight. There is quite a regime of eyedrops for a while, 6 times a day for one type and 3 times a day for another. She was banned from her 2nd home (the stables)
for a week after each op as the dust in straw/bedding can be an irritant.Mrs Robo's biggest gripe was not being able to work (bus driver) for months as she had to stop just before the first op in early November followed by the other eye in late January then wait 6 weeks before she could have an eye test so she could send the results to DVSA for their medical panel to review who then sent her a letter she could take into work to prove she was fit to drive, all in it was about 5 months off work.

So would that be better or worse than Arc eye ?
Actually Arc eye isn't the worst experiences I've had, that was at the hands of the A&E trying to get a metal splinter out of my eye one evening, they had to stop several times to re-numb my eye, eventually they gave up and asked me to return the next day for another go when someone with more experience would be available, instead the Ophthalmologist my wife worked for got it out the following morning in a couple of minutes and commentated that they'd really badly scratched my eyeball. It ached badly for days afterwards even with the drops he gave me.

When I was a kid I had an eye infection and had to put some ointment in my eye a couple of times a day. I picked my dad's Algesal back rub up instead by accident and smudged a generous finger full into my eye. Mu mam nearly drowned me rinsing it out and the neighbours either side thought I was being murdered.
