just picked this up very cheap .the problem is the power output .the motor is good and strong .it kicks out 110 as it should but it the 240 output its only kicking out about 50 v anybody any ideas thought id ask on here first.
and no its not nicked ,i bought it from a chap who ownes a secondhand shop in the town.He bought it with an ice cream van ,he then blew the engine up on the van .so he just sold everything seperatley .and the genie was part of it .
if it has been used at high loads for long periods of time then probably burnt the windings out for 230V. Take the cover off and just check there is no loose connections that kind of thing might be in look
As a matter of interest, will it have two 110v windings, switched in series for 220 and parallel for 110? In which case it could be the switch or any relays?
There should be two 120v legs , with the 240v being 120v+120v, in series
The breaker, switch or coils of the bad output leg need checked.
A bad breaker is most common.
If it seems to put out full power on the 120, the diode/capacitor unit for the exciter coils is probably ok.
