Taylor chuck outside jaws. Compare the dimensions with your inside jaws and if they are the same these will almost certainly do what you want.

Ebay hunting for chchucks with the correct thread cut on the backplate is worth a go.
Or make buy a new backplate amd machine it to suit another chuck.

Managed to find a 6 inch 4 jaw independent a 5 inch and 4 inch 3 jaw that screwed straight on over a few months from ebay.

Always have a few ebay searches to notify me of any parts for my lathe.
Grab em when I see them as no chance of buying new

Hi Palm, I'm in a similar situation with my lathe so this thread is interesting.
I need to fit my 4 new to my back plate but it won't line up! watching to see how you get round this.

This is the start of my problem, the current chuck won’t hold anything more than about 55mm. I can get a blank plate but no way of holding it. Hence why I’m looking for a new chuck with inside and outside jaws.

I feel the chuck is the easy part, back plate will be difficult as it has some sort of Raglan custom thread that I can’t do at home

First job. Find out what thread is on the spindle nose.
You might be able to source a threaded blank. Then machine it to suit your chuck.
If you cant find one sure someone would be able to help cut the thread.

Unlikely - All versions of the lathe had a 4-Morse taper headstock spindle (with a square-thread, 1.75" x 6 t.p.i. )

@ Parm search some of the old threads on here I have just found one with the information that the thread is 1.75 X 6tpi the curse is from 2013 and at that time it was thought that lathes UK had the correct back plates

Now you see....had you sold a kidney on the black market you could have bought a nice modern lathe with all the bits with it, and none of these problems. Sorry not much help, we are all learning as we go!

has your existing chuck got a threaded backplate fitted or do u have a catchplate for lathe. if so take old chuck of it get a new chuck and mount it on to it
