I did my C&G level 1 a couple of years ago and could produce in my opinion a nice looking weld - this was all with the piece flat on the table.
Ive had a bit of a break due to one thing and another but can still produce a reasonable weld on the flat.
I am doing level 2 in a couple of weeks time which seems to be mostly vertical welding, I've been having a practice and am really struggling without my hand/arm resting on the table. The welds are more prominent (blobby) and not as consistent ( I think due to my arm not being comfortable resting on the table)
This is all on mild steel by the way.
Any tips would be most welcome as I'm having a little panic....
