Copper pipe creases when I bend it!!!

What is wrong here?

I can't get the new stuff to bend without creasing badly!
I've tried anealing it, I've tied it with a bending spring inserted, I've cleaned the former and guide, cleaned the pipe, tried WD40, everything but can't get it to bend!!!
I picked up a bit of the old stuff and wacked a perfect bend straight into it!
It's doing my pigging head in.
Im using Yorkshire and Wendsbury pipe so it should be ok. I've got an almost new Hilmor bender that looks perfect.
Is it me or is this new modern pipe just crap?

The former looks and feels perfect with no knicks or wear on it, the guide is also good.

buy a length from another supplier and see how it goes

How are you holding the bender?

I rest one leg on the floor and press against it with the other leg but I’ve only ever known a worn former crinkle pipe

I would imagine if you check the wall thickness between the old and new you may find a big difference, I have struggled to find decent pipe of late even from my normal good suppliers, it's all wafer thin rubbish.

I occasionally find the new pipe wrinkles - probably similar to yours on a 90degree bend. Was the old pipe you tried metric or imperial, imperial will be thicker walled.

Yes think it was Z gauge or something, had to use fittings cos it was to thin to bend.

It's the correct half hard pipe meant for bending as far as I know. I did measure it again the old 22mm pipe and it was 0.8mm against 0.9mm
I found a tiny nick on the former at the same spot as the creases start so I've flatted that out, it bent fine on the first try after that! I
didn't have time to do any more so will report back tomorrow.

Looks very similar to the Clarke bender I've got. Have you got the aluminium guide bars with it? I might have been lucky, but I don't think I've crinkled a pipe in the 10 yrs or so I've had it and used it.

It's a Hilmor one and I have both guides with it.

Our big bender does that to steel pipe if the roller is not lubed, it tends to drag the guide over the tube and crease it.

I bought 22mm Wednesbury copper pipe from Screwfix and Toolstation and I gave up trying to get a clean bend.
I used 2 benders (the brand new Record one I bought and a friends that I borrowed) and 3 different springs (my old one, one I bought new and a borrowed one) and neither me or my mate could get an uncreased bend, never had problems previously.
All the pipe springs were very loose in the pipe, the new spring was a brand new Monument one.
I put it down to a poor run of pipe being supplied to both Screwfix and Toolstation.
I know the guys in Toolstation pretty well so I challenged them to get a clean bend using a brand new bender off the shelf and new pipe and they failed.
The guys in Toolstation did replace the 3m length of pipe for me plus gave me some damaged lengths and I used end feed bends in the end.
