Crypton Dwell meter, again

have tried here and many other forums for a user manual but still no luck.........

on the back there is a fitting for a cell battery.......
never seen this type at this size before, anyone recognise the battery, perhaps the voltage ??
dont wanna mess with and chance burning out the insides.......

any ideas ? the distance between connectors is 33-34mm..

We used to have the full crypton set up when it first came out, everyone went crazy wanting their car connected to the magic box of tricks that would get their Ford Cortina or Hillman Avenger to do 200mph and 0 to 60 in 2 seconds , never achieved but they loved the Crypton Tuned window sticker.

OK..the battery, fairly sure it was 9 volts (but it was a long time ago) which means you could easily replace the connector for the modern size, as expected it's just battery technology has advanced and got smaller.

The only issue is I am sure there used to be a 6v version the same dimensions

Looks like a PP9 to me. I've only seen 9 volt batteries with that fitting on the top.

well,
Wikipedea says it's a 9v PP9....just found a converter on the bay of flea's..........a holder that takes 6xAA batt's plus the lead for £6.........

Why not use a normal 9volt battery and just change the connection, they only cost pence.

It will probably be in the manual;-) I had a crypton the dwell meter was loose, I might still have the meter, I kept the leakdown meter from it.
I chucked all the booklets and training stuff away.
Those batteries were common enough. PP3, PP8 PP9 and PP10 all fit the same crappy terminal thingie.

Had an earlier version cant remember for the life of me what battery Don't think it would have been a PP9hole to big.
You had to adjust for full scale deflection so starting at 9v wont let the smoke out, see how the Battery adj knob sits
