before I bought the propper kit I did wheel alignment with string and a ruler. When tested against a hunter machine it was bang on.
I've used the updated mk2 version of that to check an MX5 rear track, a cheap laser level against the wheel rim & projected against the wall so I could work out which side was wrong. Uses the same principle. On older vehicles that you could slide under, I've used a stick & a rule to measure between the front & back of the wheel rims on the front. It's only a measurement after all.Used to do a similar thing on the rear wheels of Spitfires, Heralds, GT6 etc, long straight edge to the front of the car and a tape measure, surprising how many were well out of adjustment
^ what are those little cap things on the wheel lip?
Did my apprenticeship at ROR designing service tools 25 years ago!I make a fair few drifts, pullers and bush installers. This lot I made below are only for one type of ROR artic trailer axle, seal installers, hub remover, bush installers and drifts. If you bought that lot from ROR it would run into at least 1k , only took a few hours of an evening using a few offcuts of plate and ram rods.
