New to me car stinks BAD

My L200 stank of fags when i got it. My son got me a can of Blast, think that’s what it was called, you give the cab a big blast of it and shut the door. Leave it for a while. Most of the smell was gone. Apple dash cleaner made the slight smell that was left pretty unnoticeable.

Is that the oven cleaner ?

I used to know someone that grew rather smelly plants in his loft, he used a filtered extraction system, but he also used some gel beads that absorb odour he reckoned they worked really good, can't help you with a link or brand though. As a temporary measure i'd give them a go rather than air fresheners.

Might be worth trying the Clobberizer before doing anything else - though you need to ensure the actual source of odour is removed e.g old fag ends or vindaloo down the back seat.

Instead of trying to get rid of the smell you could always adapt - start smoking and stop washing, after a few days you will not notice the cars smell any more.

Summers on its way so just have the screen removed and take the doors off for a few months, hope this helps.

I wonder how much of that car was functioning after the cleaning - it would be bad enough throwing water into the car without involving a high pressure jet!

Vinegar will absorb the cigarette odours from the car so that when you, remove the bowls, the smell should leave too. If needed, repeat. You can also try sprinkling baking soda and/or carpet deodorizer over the upholstery and carpet respectively, leave for a few hours, and then vacuum it up

Hi, That's what a lot of professional valeters do if a car is bad. We were associated with a car front for a while and sometimes cars came back from them and got parked up out the back in the yard, all shut up for a few days, because of the chemical used in the washer they would smell like an old dustbin. So after that we would park them with the doors open to make sure they got fully aired, once they got properly dried out they were OK because they were clean.

A shooting mate of mine had a camper van, one day he gave 3 of us a lift up the farm track from a work party, It stank & we commented on this. As we got out our mate said "I must have missed one" & had a look in the back, Under the seat was a very dead pigeon, it had been there for a week & it was summer time.

You need an enzyme based cleaner. It will literally eat up all the smellies.

Google for it, I forget the trade names....

<edit> lazybones beat me to it. Any type of enzyme based cleaner will do. Shouldn't have to say it but read the instructions and follow them!
