Hi guys, has anyone done an overhaul on one of these pipe benders ? I went to use mine the other day and the ram comes out a certain distance and then has no pressure to bend the pipe. The oil reservoir is fully topped up. When I move the pump direction lever in the opposite direction the ram actually goes back in ? Am I missing something really simple or does it indeed need a overhaul on the seals ?

Unless I am being really daft and over looked something, all I have done was topped up the oil on top of the machine where the fine mesh gauze is......are you going to tell me theres a bleed screw somewhere ? LOL

On the engine hoist you slacken the screw that lowers it then pump it to get the air out.

My Tubela was a bit of a pig to get going after I bought it, had sat on a shelf unused for a few years. If the ram is going back on it's own that suggests air compressed in the system as ram returns at double speed when pumped as you probably know. Mine picked up the pressure and stroke ok after cycling the ram in & out a few times.

When I get back home to Kent from Leicester I will give it another go and see if it now works.

Mine was overhauled by someone into hydraulics it came back but still wouldn't work ,there is a kit to buy or send it away and they fix it on £250 ish as i recall !

Tubela do a repair for £316.80 inc. vat or a seal kit for £107.99 according to their website.

So apart from where you fill up the reservoir, there are no other bleed screws ????

Not that I remember, mine is stashed away at the moment.

Can't see anything on the diagram that you can get at, can you pull the ram out and push it back a few times to see if it displaces anything. I had similar problem with a Bradbury jack and it was the seal in the pump that was shot, just a couple of O rings to sort it.
