buying combi drill

I am after a cordless combi drill around the £150 mark.
There was a link here recently to a decent online supplier. I spotted a Dewalt 18v jobbie with two decent batteries around this price but cant find the link now. I like yellow, it matches my eyes.
It's bonkers how many you see advertised with 1.3ah batteries. I'm after say 2 x3ah batteries,I would like to buy something in a case as it will be living at home and making the odd site visit

I have a dewalt I have had for about 8 years on the older type 18 v battery ( be aware that new 18 v won't fit old and old can no longer be purchased ).
Just the other week I purchased a new matabo combi drill and some other new gear because all my site tools are matabo now and work on thier new 18 v HD, battery system .
I think and suggest you might be as well buying a new combi drill with the charger and batteries . Reason being you ain't that far away on budget and after that you just buy body only tools of the same type and it's massively cheaper (the money is in the batteries and charger )

The dewalt has been good over many a year now.. In fact I just used it for a home job ten mins ago.

Something to consider is what other tools you might be interested in. Once you've bought a tool you're kind of bought into the battery technology, otherwise as Kent implies things can get expensive fast.

You're not far off the non Fuel Milwaukee stuff (there are definitely cheaper places than Toolstation, e.g. milwaukeepowertools, FFX and so on).

For example - after having the opportunity to try out one of their High Torque wrenches I ended up buying one because I was so impressed. Given I had the batteries I gave my Makita NiMH drill driver to a friend and bought a body only combi from them. Boy was that a step up - serious wrist breaker. I've now got one of their little impact drivers, a grinder and flood light all very useful stuff. I did end up getting a couple more batteries and another charger because I swap between the tools so frequently in a day it was useful having each one with a charged battery.

Look for a metal gearbox plastic dont last long in a combi drill
I find ffx and Screwfix the better sites for comparing models i compare the max drilling capacitys in the 3 different materials the best way to compare drills as they quote different things when it comes to torque
The other thing is before buying pick it up and handle it bought the biggest makita its a beast of a drill but weights a tonne and isino good for repetetive overhead work so depending what your doing a 12v system might work and you could get an impact driver aswell for your budget

You can use the new batteries with an adapter and the old batteries are commonly available new(non genuine) on ebay.

UK Planet Tools have some good deals, they have a Dewalt brushless combi on special at the moment at £142.99, comes with charger,Tstak case and a 4ah battery. I does only have 1 battery but in the bigger sizes it's the batteries that bump the prices. You can buy 4ah battery from them for £39.99.

Screwfix have a couple that come under you budget, another thing to be aware of there are a couple of different common chargers, DCB113(DCB112 is an earlier version) and DCB115(DCB105 is an earlier version) easy way to tell the difference from a picture on a DCB113 the socket is on the left, on a DCB115 it's on the right. The 115 is faster and you buy them for £20 so it's worth have an extra. I have 3x DCB115 and a couple of DCB113, both my 113 do emit some PSU noise when they are plugged in, it's a faint whine. The 115s don't do this.

The normal batteries for Dewalt 18v stuff these days are 2ah,4ah and 5ah, some stuff does ship with 1.5 or 3 but when buying extras 2,4 and 5 are the most common.

I wouldn't be affraid of the 2ah, I have a couple that came with my multi tool and sometimes it's beneficially to have a lighter battery. I keep one on the torch by the back door. Clearly they don't have the same run time but they do charge in half the time. It's easy to forget that in the old days a 2ah battery was pretty normal on drill that wasn't anywhere near as efficient as the new ones.

This Bosch wireless combi is awesome, we have the same drill without the wireless charging and it's took some right hammer.
The wireless charging is a great option because when in between use it sits on the charging station constantly topping up.
It's £180 but I'm sure your budget could stretch a little.

This all makes my head spin.
I think I have to go with two batteries and decent sizes as now and again I am working on sites, and at the moment on a serious mission doing my house up. My ancient 14v Nimh jobbie has dies and some oaf has put the charger somewhere safe. I have 14v Li Ion drill but need one at home and one at work. I cant see any other cordless tools in the pipeline.
I reckon 18v and two decent sized bateries. Probably the Dewalt one from screwfix; when my customer pays up that is.
I dont often keep tools in the boxes they come in but living at home it will keep it all contained.
When I moved my workshop I chucked out a mountain of injection moulded boxes from grinders, drills and sanders. it stood about 2m tall.
I bet they are all still in my mate's shed.

Drill and driver brushless dewalt sets are worth a look too. Be over your budget but worthwhile long term.
For banging screws in the impact comes out everytime.

I have used an impact driver. Impressive bits of kit but never felt a need to one, but might stump up if I need one.
I ended up buying he Dewalt brushless 18v model with 2x3ah batteries. it uses the same charger as my other drill and the yellow matches my teeth.

good choice u wont be disappointed register it for 3 year warranty with dewalt though if u don't its only one year guarantee with screwfix. its free to register

Dissapointed that it does not have the little magnet and hook on the sides, there are threaded holes to fix them too though.
