The No-IP account username & password are different to the username and password entered into the router or camera. The former get me into my account dashboard, the latter allows the router access to my domain so it can update the DNS, and will/could be different for each domain. The information I want off 1and1 is the username and password I should apply to access the domain set up with them, but they can't answer my question and there is no "1and1" option on my router, so it looks like I can't use 1and1 with my router. There's no option for a custom setup.

I realise you only need to set up the DNS in the router, but am intrigued as to why there is the facility to set it up in the camera, because if if it's set up in the camera and not the router the router can't be found and so neither could the camera.

Why not ask your ISP for IPv6 addresses? Problem sorted, as there are trillions of possible addresses then you tend to get a bunch so no need for port address translation, DNS still works, which is a good job considering the address length

Zen supplies fixed IPv6 address space for free.

EDIT if your cameras support IPv6, which they should then no NAT either. The router and camera should support dual stack so you can talk v6 for t'internet and v4 or v6 internally. Most phones now support v6.

Blimey, BT are behind by a country mile if they have rolled out HW that doesn't support IPv6. It's only been about for 10+ years

Your No-IP account is what should be entered into the Router Dynamic DNS page as it needs to login to the NO-IP account in order to update it with the current router IP address

the DDNS page in in the camera is a bit odd but not every router has the DDNS capability so I suppose it adds a bit more flexibility and isn't much different to having a piece of software installed on your PC to do the job

I enter the 2nd username & password to update the DNS, as per the image in post #35, I use the account name & password to access my No-Ip account myself. DNS settings are accessed via the domain mydomain.hopto.org, username & password.

I've just run this experiment

IP before XX.XXX.XXX.244
Check DUC* is not running
Disable DDNS at the camera
Access camera http://mydomain.hopto.org OK
Pull plug to BT socket on router
Camera display stops (Still works over LAN)
Leave it 10 mins
Reconnect router
New IP XX.XXX.XXX.15
Log into camera OK so DNS worked

* DUC is a utility that runs on the PC and sends any change of IP address to No-Ip

Its a 5a with late 2017 firmware, I believe large chunks of the network have it disabled even though the HH would work. I do have a different HH from another account which I know is a different platform, I cant recall if its older or newer ( later I think ) but out of curiosity I might plug it in later.

I've just plugged the other router in and as I was doing it I realised I was breaking a service that I havent time to set up just now, so I put the old router in and it took a while to reboot.. lo and behold its rolled back to 4.7.5.1.83.8.236.1.2 | Last updated 15/07/17 and IPv6 is now disabled until the network supports it.

I'll have a play with the other router tonight when I've more time.. curious though.
