Hello.
I've got EWM Tetrix 230 AC/DC tig/stick welder and I wanted to turn in into portable MIG machine.
I bought on ebay secondhand miller 12vs suitcase feeder (quite old) and i wanted to make sure, that i wired it right way
I've put DC+ from power source to feeder
DC- to workpiece
Voltage sensing clamp to workpiece.
Tetrix switched to stick
Suitcase switched to CC.
Or should I reverse the polarity and put DC- on torch?
The first results are not very promising.
I didn't have proper extension from power source, co i just put clamp on the terminal of wirefeeder.
Machine seems to loose power, when trying to weld (dials go's blank) - I've found on millers forum, that those feeders are very sensitive to poor connections. Right lead is on the way.
Meanwhile i wanted to ask about your experience with CC and MIG.
CV power source would be the best, but right now i have to run on CC.
Does it make any sense? Are there any differences in welding/welds from normal shop CV MIG's?
Is welding technique different/harder?
How to adjust power? Set amps at my power source?
Any thoughts shared appreciated
Cheers
Mike
