ok im getting older ish what do you use for looking at very small parts

ok my eyes are not what there where i was doing a bit of soldering of a small part and find i was guessing at what i was soldering now its a type of part i have been doing for a long time so know what to do but at the end it was solid and working fine but have come to the point i need to be able to see what im soldering

what do you people use for such stuff idealy its smaller stuff i would need to take to work and use at home as well i been looking i like the magnifer and light mix but with the bulbs are way over the price mark i could pay

My peepers are not what they were either, dont need specs to read or drive and passed the eye test for my HGV medical but do struggle with small things like the giblets in chainsaw carbs. I've had one of these for a few years now, for the price it's fantastic.
You have the option of doubling up the lenses to increase the magnification though I prefer to use them singly.
If it broke I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

You could try your mobile phone.
I use mine all the time for close up stuff. Luckily my eyes are fine but the phone lets you zoom right in on stuff.

Aye lots of them in all the ranges .always buy them out the pound shops because you lay them down and stand on them
Or the leg screw falls out
The cheater lenses ok on bench work but not much use jammed under a pipe
I get by on 1.5 or 2.0 usualy
I t happens quickly i remember rooting some pipes and thought these new tungstens" ceriated " they started using are useless my mate said try my specs
It was like being given new eyeballs
Btw ceriated are rubbish

I just use the lens on it's own, I took it out of the frame.

I have a head band magnifier too. And one similar to the clarke, came from my grannies years ago. And in the garage I have 3 diffrent perscription pairs of glasses for different distances. Pain in the butt but if I was young enough not to have bodily defects Id not beable to afford my garage so its a life balance we need to accept.

ok went with some thing like listed above a cheap china take an age to get here but im not that much in a rush hope it will do me for a bit and see how i get on with it i wont usae them much as its most for soldering but if i get on with them well dont mind spening a few £s to get some thing that will last i just want to know they will do what i need or if i need more stronger it goes up to 5x mag and i got a glass with about that for checking stuff but its useless for solding i need 3 pairs of hands when doing it i would need another hand to then hold the glass as well

If I'm in the house repairing phone or similar I have a Machine Mart magnifying lamp which I share with my wife. We bought it for her miniatures hobby. I fitted a 40w E27 daylight bulb in it.

If you can no longer squint and see then it's time for reading glasses I'm afraid. I also having a magnifying glass for reading drawings at work with small font and details etc.
