Aldi multi tool thing

i know there's been a few posts about this, but I've just bought one of the Aldi multi tools, found it reduced to £14.99 & thought that's too good to miss. My question is, do any other blades fit them besides there own. I want a blade for steel & the blades given are wood. I know there was a post on here about cutting & welding a blade, but I don't really want to cut up an unused blade at this stage, I'll wait until I've got a knackered one.

I bought a "workzone" one - Aldi or Lidl, can't remember which.
The cheap "universal" blades from toolstation physically fit, but I had to use a 8mm washer because the centre hole was about 0.5mm too large to be "grabbed" by the quick release thing.

Not sure what type of fitting the Aldi tool has but you can get adaptors on eBay to allow the fitment of different blades to different brands and I'm pretty sure that there are universal blades that will fit several different tools

As an aside. There pretty pants on metal.

Shark blades and saxon blades on ebay sell decent blades for sensible money. Generally only use wood/metal combos and carbide blades for grout removal etc.

Thanks for that, I thought it was you B.E. That was talking about them before, but couldn't recall the details. It would be handy tomorrow but toolstation is 15 miles away, Screwfix is a few minutes away, but the blades don't look the same.

If your cutting a timber window cill out its grand for cutting through the odd nail. Screws kill blades quicker than anything though.
Copper pipe is easy on em and ally.

I treat mine like an electric chisel.

Brilliant tool for wood and soft material but I find the blades not much good for metal if you catch a nail it soon blunts the blade.
They are brilliant for getting right in corners and cutting where no other tool will reach.
I also recommend Saxton blades.

as above saxton blades I use whats called the Japanese blades the teeth look coarse but cut fine and longer lasting than the standard ones

I had my Hungarian friend help me fit the kitchen.
We were looking to chase out the plasterboard for a cable and he asked me if I had a "vibbly vobbly machine".
Strangely I knew exactly what he meant , and I did
Great bit of kit. Tried cutting a bolt with it , and it struggled. But on timber / plasterboard etc they are great

Same with my one I got from Netto years ago. It is an indispensable tool for awkward positional jobs like flooring and window frames and I would definitely buy a better one if this one ever croaks. I never tried cutting any non ferrous metal with it but I think the heat generated in a small area would kill the blade pretty quickly.
