Powerfix chain hoists

Lidl will be selling the powerfix 1t chain hoists in the next few weeks. Are they any use ? Anyone have experience of them ? They have a three year warranty.

I have one, only used it the once so far but it has been fine. Made in China like everything else I expect. I couldn't find one any cheaper elsewhere so they appear to be a reasonable deal. Very useful if you have somewhere to hang it. I have an RSJ and beam trolley in my garage.

I am not so sure I would trust a ton dangling above my head on a £30 Chinese chainblock , I suppose if they fail you wont be around to put in the warranty claim

Paid 30 notes for a good quality SH unit.
Always loads on the bay.

It appears you can buy them as cheap as 18 quid delivered new from Ebay now. Bob, you can probably afford two at that price and use them in tandem to double yer survival chances.

I bought one a while ago, I've only used it to lift an engine off the floor to the bench but it seems ok. I would have no worries lifting something heavier, but would I get underneath, I don't think so. Mind I wouldn't even if it was an expensive one. Value for money 10/10.

I have silver line one cost much more than that. It has been invaluable on my restoration and much more. I have an RSJ ridge beam.

Lidl would have checked the hoist is CE certified.

Its in the leaflet, along with 200w bench grinders, cordless detail sanders and wi-fi inspection cameras. Also work wear, boots, socks etc. Says on the leaflet from the first of march.

Lidl in GB, Ireland & Northern Ireland get the same stuff but on slightly different dates! As an example we had the air tools on Thursday, GB got them on Sunday!

Nowhere on it or the leaflet can i find any mention of China. It is stamped with a manufacture date and a serial number. That aside, it looks good, good paint, fasteners and chains. For what its intended for it will fit the bill nicely.

Yeah they can be used for pulling things although they're a bit clumsy for pulling as the chains get all tangled up on the ground

It may say it is made by Scheppach but it likely originated in China.

Scheppach are supposed to make the Lidl/Parkside 10" table saws but you can get a virtually identical saw from clarke, Titan, Einhell, Aldi/workzone, Evolution, etc but they are all made in PRC, just in several different colours!

You are probably right, but it looks good, especially for 40 notes. Anyway i only want to lift the bridgeport head i have onto the machine. It weighs a little over 100 kg's i reckon, but thats not the sort of weight i can lift, well not for long.

China Export certified you mean?

I'm pretty sure the chain has to be of high strength grade according to EN standard to be allowed as a lifting aid. Yet most of them China made are electro zinc plated.....

So is my Scheppach (made in China) , I wouldn't trust it at full load.
