Shed Roof Experts Required

Evening All,

Had a moments thought today regarding a shed I'm currently building to clear all the garden tool junk out of my garage.

Now my question is...

Do I need to use a membrane between the plywood & sheet metal roofing?

I covered mine with DPC that is usually put under floors, the blue plastic stuff then put Wickes corrugated bitumen over the top. That was about 23 years ago and it's just getting ready for doing again. My theory was every little helps.

it all helps and metal does get condensation under it so if was me yes i would

Don't really want to do the job twice & I have read a few stories about condensation which isn't something I want to be contending with.

Joists...plywood...membrane (none plastic)...counter batons 2x1..metal sheets. This stops all the dripping and sweating associated with metal sheeting direct over living space,it also is very amateur friendly with regards to fitment. Would i have it on my shed and the answer is NO but thats for another day

I'm a little confused by the link you posted as it shows several different products.

Using a non-plastic membrane is what I believe is your recommendation?

I'm not planning on using the shed as a working environment, But storage only with good ventilation.

i gave you the link and stated the product you need..strongbond 250, its there if you look on right hand side. "Storage" another ball game, sorry i never seen that in your 1st post.

yep and 20M rolls...i pay £38 in the trade plus the dreaded..infact the 180 would do you and should be cheaper by a couple of quid

Whats the actual difference between strongbond 180 & 250?

Would the insulated profile sheets not work out cheaper ? they dont sweat and would seem to be a lot less work

I won't go into details, But lets just say I'm reusing materials I've acquired & I'm on a limited budget.

If you are sheeting the roof with ply under the top metal covering you will not get condensation. You don't need anything expensive just an added layer to preserve the ply. A coat of bitumen painted on would help.

just putting steel roof sheets on a plastic roof causes the steel to rot or rust away unknown on how long it will last though

you could jack it up like via a cold roof method and insulate under the boards as i did
