pricing on cutting wood ?

sounds daft but doing a couple of hours for a mate cutting some logs for a wood burner hes busy and dont have the time and there need some quick as there running out of wood normaly i would go over and just do faver for faver but he insists on paying i dont know what to accept as payment

im only there to use there tools sthil chain saw all fuel and oil will be provided cutting stand is there as well man hours only

advice always wecome but i know the dangers of chain saws used meny in my time bought and sold meny when i have needed them (when i needed a chainsaw to do a job i bought a non working one got it going or just bought a old but working one to do the job and then sell it as my needs are little for them like them but need other things as i can actualy use them ) but now having no trees in the house only have a electric saw used it only 2 times in anger for the next doors small tree and cutting a railway sleepers for a mate as well to do a flower bed

also im just doing the chain saw bit he will the axe bit

As long as you don't need the money and would rather do it as a favour this is a great game and can really find out quite a bit about someone with what they offer.

I think in most cases you would know which people would return a favour and I am the same, I do things like that as much for the good feeling it gives me.

I repaired a puncture on a friends car at 9 oclock at night couple of weeks a go to save them having to get to a tyre place in the morning. I didn't take any money and I know she is the sort of person who will go out of her way to help us.

all above apply to a normal close mate or some one that can pay back the faver thats the way i normaly work and a 4 pack beers shown on leaving is nice

My wife knows a guy who was quoted something stupid like £1800 to cut up and clear the brush on two fallen trees sure they are biggish trees but he'd be better to give the wood to someone for free and buy 3 years worth of heating oil with what he saved

there is a choise and a need shovel **** to keep a roof over my kids/otherhalf heads yes not what i would want to do but money coming in keeps them from the door

i just lost my best/only mate from school got to go in a few days to his funeral moving **** seams like a blessing when you look at it this way

A friend of mine is like this. I'm retired same as him but he is not so mobile. We moved some stuff out of his utility room and a lot of plaster was falling off so I repaired the walls and he got me a bottle of Glenfiddich.

When i was doing this sort of stuff I would charge £18 per hour x 2, two of us had to be there for safety. If I was taking down trees in gardens it could be as much as £1500 for one tree.

In the ops circumstances I would do the cutting and let them give me what they thinks worth.

Don't charge him if he's your friend, you might need a job done in the future that you cant do but he can, then you will find out if your his friend.

I had a so called friend the same only rang or called if he wanted something doing if i could do it he stayed and if I couldn't he was busy and had to go . he got the message when I said sounds about rite . some things never change
