So I'm posting this here as if I put it on the land rover forum, well I might as well end it all now. I quite like the look of the B1, my reservations about it is it looks and probably is wider than a hummer h1 and it' completely electric, range extended I could possibly live with but would be perfect with a proper diesel engine. Have tried to ad a pic but can't I'm sure u can find one if you don't know what it looks like.

Nice looking vehicle but then I've always loved Land Rovers, can't see many people buying one unless its to replace their Chelsea Tractor in town.

I doubt if it'll be allowed to tow a heavy trailer (3500lbs in the UK or even more in the USA) due to the alloy chassis and there's not many mains charge points in the deserts, forests, mountains and swamps of the world.

Plus at the moment there's possibly/probably only one concept vehicle built, it'll be interesting to see if they can find a build partner.

But would you be prepared to pay the price of a top of the range "Range Rover" for a Land Rover look alike, that you have to charge every 200 miles and buy new batteries for every few years or pay the rental charge as well.

I'll stick to the internal combustion engine for as long as possible thank you.

Yeah I take your point the charging thing might be a problem ..although when I ran a 3ltr series two A a few years ago as my daily driver , I had to plan my route carefully (petrol station to petrol station )...

That' the problem with it mainly I love my series 3 2.25 d far to much to part with it. Also yes I believe the asking price is roumerd to be in range rover terrtory which for a defender look alike that will probably have the same build quality is rather just buy a scrap series with no engine and electrify that if push really came to shove and the war on diesel got so redicusuly out of proportion.

I just wish they would fix that huge glaring problem with electric cars that you have to stand there for 12 hours with your finger on a button to recharge them.

if they could arrange it so that you could leave the car alone to recharge itself. As then you could go away and do something else while the car charges up.

I like the look of these I registered interest a while back. @Robbie260 I think there is a lot of scope for Electric conversions for LR's. I'm currently hunting down my First Discovery 3 thats flying round locally to me with a view to electrifying it.

Yes the electric charging is going to be a pain in the back side and the limited range a problem. And there is no point in buying a 4x4 that cant tow more than a standard car. Though a thought just occoured to me would land rover sue on the basis it looks so like a defender if they put it into production?

Land rovers especially defender/series are really easy to convert with plenty of square/recangular holes to stuff more batteries into. A d3 you may struggle with as the are extremely limited on space outside of the body work, you are going to have to sacrifice a lot of interior space. Good luck though.

Is the one in the video just a concept or very early prototype.
Reason being while I was watching I noticed there is no suspension travel at all. Also when the guy gets out there is no response from the vehicle as his weight leaves the cab.

'Everyone' stop blathering on about how electric cars are suitable direct replacements for fossil fuel cars in every situation (and that you can't control your bladder or stomach for more than 100 miles so stopping for an hour to charge isn't a problem because you need a wee and a sandwich anyway) - and I'll stop using reasonable arguments to say they're not the panacea you think they are.

You are correct

Electric cars are not suitable for EVERYONE in the UK

So we just stop any development of them this very second

The only cars that should be allowed on the road is a car that has a 600 mile range, can tow 3500Kg, seat 7 people and be massively capable Offroad.

Cars are like women, all different. Not all men like all women. There are in fact some women who dont like men at all. THere are also men who only like men.

So why should we all like one type of car, or be forced to have one type of car for that matter. Thats almost like the old communist thing where everyone should do as they are told.

What ever happened to the utopia of freedom of thinking.

And again no one in the eco world has considered its not cars that do the bulk of the polluting but the large commercial forms of transport. Lorrys, ships, planes....are they being forced electric no, the motorist is a headline grabbing easy target.

All i want is to be off grid and fully disconnected from any of this....but never stop research and development. One day they might find a cure for a lack of common sense and human stupidity.

If what is available now suits some people, and they're prepared to pay the financial and convenience costs to have one, great, bully for them. As more people pay the stupidly inflated prices and ignore raping the earth for the extremely limited raw materials then they finance development - the next generation will suit more people. The generation after that, even more.

Eventually, you'll have some sort of supercapacitor powered vehicle that meets my needs,

For me i would find an EV more convenient when i was working as i did a hugely predictable useage.

So given the choice between standing in the ******* rain once a week to cough up loads of tax to the government or spending 20 seconds a day charging the car.

Well once we get around the tiny issues of.

Current hydrogen filling stations can do 3 cars an hour.
There is only 3 hydrogen fuel stations in scotland
Hydrogen needs massive amounts of electricity to make
No one has developed a hydrogen powered ICE in the past decade
All current hydrogen cars are stuffed full of exactly the same rare earth elements in the batteries, motors and fuel cells which cause huge amount of pollution when dug up for an EV


But apart from those tiny issues

You still have to go to the fecking fuel station to fill it up
