I'll get some smaller belts for it and then I can use the slow speeds

just curious. if your drill only goes down to 1500 rpm what has belt size got to do with it. that wont reduce the speed

I find it a little crazy that you'll spend that sort of money on one drill bit, but haven't sorted belts for lower speed drilling, and are using a drill chuck that slips.

Because the belts that came with the drill are a bit bit for how you have it on the pulleys for lower speed
The drill actually goes down to 130 it's just the belts that came with it are to big to work at Low speeds

If they turn out good if I buy a few I can get £7 off them just I only got two

I gave a couple of 10.5mm to my lads and they drilled a couple of hundred holes in 10mm steel with them mounted in a mag drill. They gave them back , used just the one and it was still drilling clean holes. They used a good cutting fluid with them.
Expensive (think I paid around £14 + VAT) but they seem to last

They have been for me. To be fair, all their gear is pretty good, especially the carbide cutters. The versadrive impact taps are impressive gear too

It's a Aldi one and I think they just put the wrong size belts with it because there just to big even one the biggest pulleys there slack

I'll have to try them I just got some dormer machine taps and they were very good just expensive

can you not adjust the motor to tension the mount ?

maybe post some photos ? - slow speed will fix almost all your problems

with high speed, even if you do everything else perfectly you'll struggle

No I can't adjust it its atomic but the belt seems a 1/2" to big

i have an lidl one,same as yours,you just ajust it by the motor

I'll have to have a look I can't se any way to adjust it my brother had a lidl one and the aldi one seems better quality I got some smaller belts anyway and it works a lot better now

one side pivots, and the other side you slacken a couple of bolts and slide the motor backwards/forwards (towards/way from the front of the drill)

a bit like the way a car alternator is mounted

It's just the belts were too slack when on the low speed pulleys

I'm a bit confused too actually... as you move the belt down on to a smaller pulley on one side you're moving it down onto a larger one on the other side... every set of pulleys should need the same size belt?

All I know is for it to work if you follow the chart the belts are slack but if you follow the chart but put the belt on one side one notch lower it works but I think the belts where to big it's alright now I've got half inch smaller belts but with the old ones if you followed the chart it would just spin on the belts
