Sealing gaps

Hi

I have a house around 1900 and as you could imagine there areally plenty draftie bits. Between walls and the floor and up between skirting etc.

What' would you advise to do to limits this. I was going to use something like decorators caulk or something like that.

It's not massve gaps.

The wind here is almost always SW and very strong.. this easterly has found lots of gaps resulting in me running round temporarily shoving feed sacks into some gaps, I was taken aback by some minor gaps that had previously gone unnoticed for nearly 20 years that we've been here - had an icy hurricane blowing through them :-)

It would take a lot more effort than I'll ever do to get my place draft proof enough to worry about that :-)

Get the large foam cans from Screwfix along with a screw-on trigger unit. Wish I'd bought one years ago. The foam can be squirted into some very small gaps using plastic hose which can be crushed to suit the gap size.

Silicon tube nozzles are good for that task. Pop a nozzle over the end of the tube, squirt some foam so that it comes out of the rear of the nozzle, then leave the nozzle on until it's set. Gives you a thread for fresh nozzles then. Just snap off the excess foam and clean/scrape the tip with a knife.
