Best value for money thin slitting discs?

My fabby is a miserable bad tempered git and if something like a disc is not right he will launch the whole box into the skip rather than use them up, he likes these

Will give them a go, As I have used their flap discs which seemed ok. But was a little unsure about cutting discs. People can get very brand associated & not consider the lesser brand.

Tyrolir 3 Star 1MM are my favourite Cutting Discs. Let me know if you want a few sending over to try, I’ve got plenty. Can pop them in the post FOC.

I bought a few hundred Flexovit and they are great quality, Kennedy discs from Cromwell tool are good too. Like all thin slitting/cutting discs, don't force the feed speed, let them cut at their own speed and they will last a lot longer.

I use ones made by SAIT, got them from AJ fasteners on Manor trading estate, they are excellent & last far longer than the 3m ones (which are similar to the poppadoms ones!)

All the decent usable brands of thin discs are probably rolled out of the same factory with a different label as are the rubbish ones, often think threads like this should highlight what discs to avoid because of the amount of good ones.

My favorite are Dronco but I bought a load of parkside discs when they were on offer in Lidl & they are surprisingly good!

ive tried both parkside and blue spot discs the blue spot i wouldnt buy again however it was when i first started grinding metal but i normally cut flags and slates with grinders discs

lidl parkside discs not that bad to use last long enough, there not bad however on cutting this steel i found some to be different thickneses even though they was 1mm cutting discs

these are all the steels that ive been using them on 2 1/4" round bar, 1 1/2 steel plate 6 1/2" wide, 3/4" steel plate x 10" length and other sizes box section all 5mm thick



ive had a parkside shatter on me while using it in the 3/4" steel plate due to being wrong thickness to another disc it grabbed in steel and just shattered is what happened

the parweld ones are the one im using on an earlier post but im using 5" disks not the 4 1/2" discs

I bought a box of 25 Klingspor for £15, But not fully convinced. Used several discs last weekend & unsure if they normally should wear as quick!

I have had klingspor I bought them to do comparison test allongside some rhodios the rhodios ones came out on top by a mile

Ive not had any trouble with Klingspor they seem to last long enough , I dong expect too much form a thin cutting disk , its worth trying different types to compare I suppose

Rhodius at a £1 a disc seem a little pricey, But if they last double the time, then they might be worth it.

The Klingspor ones I currently have were 64p per disc

There should be a poll on best cutting discs!

I used the machine mart 'plasma' discs. Didn't force them. Had a tin box of ten and spun the middle out of three of them, Not too impressed if i'm honest

There probably wont be a discernible difference between the discs on your hit list Ashley because they are the tried and tested ones , @gordon stephenson point of not leaning on them too hard is key to their longevity . I had to retrain when I first started using them and with care I can get them to last for ages.

Your probably right!

Just so many differences of opinion, Always good to have first hand experience.

Still got 20 Klingspor to get through!
