Have you noticed Mr TIG is gone

I've not really watched weld.com videos that much, but I noticed the hubbub about this Mr Tig guy on forums. And recently I've been getting weld.com recommendations and I've clicked them and I've noticed it's all this other guy, Bob Moffat that's doing all the welding videos instead. Looked in one of the comment and it seems Mr TIG is gone:

I suppose all the negative feedback on welding forums got to them, I do feel sorry for Mr TIG, can't be fun to be disliked by so many. But perhaps that choice of name was his single biggest mistake and he'd gotten away with a lot more just calling himself Wyatt.

Bob Moffat seems to be doing all the videos now and he isn't going around calling himself that. Pretty sure only one person did that.

I stopped watching that channel when "Mr Tig" did an experiment to see what would happen if he used a flux core welding rod and no gas to Tig. (Something like that anyway).

Came as a surprise to no one and I switched off....

Bob moffat is 10 times the welder wyatt swain is. when i started welding i thought "Mr Tig" was ok. then i started doing this for a living and rewatched some episodes. the one where the world renown tig expert with experience in the space industry left the rod lying in the joint without even holding it and proceeded to demonstrate the "lay wire" technique by then trying to use the torch to weld the rod as is. no expert would ever make that mistake

My biggest problem with him or his videos is if he’s got the front to call him self mr tig then his welding seriously needs to back that up.
He would pop up a 5min vid based on a question he’d been asked and he would answer it with 2 beads on a 200mm plate set up in a jig. I can teach someone to do exactly the same in around 30mins. At least when you watch the likes of Jody you get to see the guy on real jobs in real positions for real customers. I don’t feel sorry for him. Under his videos it had “world renowned tig expert”. And he introduced him self as mr tig. You can not put beads down plates in every video after boasting those two statements.

ItsI got to be very difficult to get a good welder who can also present and speak to camera. I mean without dropdrop the ffirs bomb or similar.

I agree re chucke - when he was just an enthusiastic amateur then, despite the marmiteness of his voice, I found his earlier videos very useful. The latter ones are just barely disguised adverts for his sponsors.

big fan of Bob Moffat, mixes the abilities of a real, been there and done it, welder with all the site / workshop craic etc, and the abilities to teach in an easy going manner. A pretty rare mix, much like Keith Fenner for the machining. I Like Jody too, clearly knows it and explains it very well.

I understand that people need to fund their YouTube lifestyle, But there is alot of product placement which is selling goods which aren't worthy. They just pray on the vulnerable! Also my respect for some of these people disappears.
