Business rates! How much do you pay?

In the last few minutes, the Scottish Budget has been approved by MSPs.

Business rates for 120,000 small businesses will be abolished, helping shops and local firms cut costs and protect jobs in these tough times. This year my rates dropped from £550.00 ( that was half price being a small business) to £120.00, next year it will be abolished, go on Alex good on you!

The scary thing is where the government (which ever party) is going to start clawing back all these cuts that the present government is handing out. You get it given to you in one hand and you will be giving it back, plus more with the other hand.

They have also pledged £16 million to recruit 18,500 new apprentices.

mon the small business rates relief! i save about £700 this year
unfortunatly still got to pay the rent, insurance, groundkeeping......

still waiting to hear back from the ayrshire valuation joint board on any rates adjustment though

Now approved, the Scottish Budget will deliver: -

- Help for households to beat the credit crunch, providing extra funding for councils to freeze the Council Tax for another year.

- Another cut in the cost of single prescriptions from April, down from £5 to £4... with 12-month pre-payment certificates cut by £10 to £38.

- Business rates for 120,000 small businesses will be abolished, helping shops and local firms cut costs and protect jobs in these tough times.

- £230 million of accelerated infrastructure spending to keep the Scottish economy moving and support 4,700 jobs.
- Extra funds to help train 1,000 additional police officers, to put more bobbies on the beat and improve safety on our streets.

- £15 million to help provide home insulation for 90,000 homes - targeted on those most in need.
- £16 million to recruit 18,500 new apprentices.
PLUS: -
- £300 million more for the NHS.
- £70 million more to invest in affordable housing.
- £60 million more for town centre renewal.
- £40 million more in funding for free personal care for the elderly.

- A total of £1.8 billion in additional expenditure - securing a total of 35,000 jobs!

Not quite true, the Scottish and Welsh assembles give money away and cut taxes, abolish NHS prescription charges, college/uni fees, plus other taxes probably.

Now who's going to pay its us stupid English types who don't have an assembly and let the idiots who we elect to Parliament to shaft us financially....plus G. Brown should be Hang Drawn And Quartered....The next move will be to joint the Euro...

I'm saying that it appears that the Scottish and Welsh have a more beneficial financial package/policy than people living in England.
