Yes, I think that was the final conclusion but the back discs were changed after being described as “corroded”, in <6K?. I think if I were the car manafacturer Id be having strong words with my brake part suppliers.

All discs corrode. I suspect the dealer was at fault not LR!
Never had any real issues with my previous Freelander.

well that will include the two cv'sI doubt driveshafts would be noisy - more likely a CV joint.
Not seen much breaking on the front actuallyNot being driven is the rust killer for rear discs especially as most breaking is done with the fronts as well.
Is that on a Disco 2? Mine does exactly the same as the picture, it only seems to use the top inch or so of the disc for braking.
Yeah, I was surprised by the contact patch but the discs are the same size as the fronts and most cars they are smaller on the rear
Phew! I was beginning to think it was another job to add to the ever growing list of stuff to fix.
I’m down to only loosing 3 different fluids now, can barely tell where it’s been parked
Fix the leaks and they seldom go wrong, its when they leak and no one is topping things up they fail. On the older disco1/rr/landy 90/110 axles I have always shoved a greasegun cartridge full of grease into the swivel housings and then topped them up with oil, groil never leaks out and water/crap cant get in. Not that you shuld need to but just another simple trick to keeping an older landy running.

Only three? Think yourself lucky and keep quiet. Leaks are like BeetleJuice on these things. Mention them several times and they appear from nowhere.
We all get like that when we get olderits a little bit wet around the transfer box area, but i can live with that![]()
Sounds like a typical fitter with a bad case of cognitive dissonance, just gone on a changing spree at the manufacturers expense after having convinced himself of the problem. It was probably a small stone stuck in the caliper
Bob
That looks like a poor design, the brake pad should wipe the entire area that the cross-drilled holes and grooves cover so either the brake pads are too small or the disc has been spec'd wrong.
