A patent relies on demonstrating an "inventive step". Something which no one else has thought of before. All of those devices use a driven part which operates against a ramp to close a jaw. It's not my job to dig into someones dream and scupper it, I wish the guy all the luck in the world but I've seen a mechanism like that before and there must be countless other examples. The patent process is difficult enough and super expensive but the biggest problem is that these days, there's no real protection to be had. All you can hope for is to use a patent in commercial negotiations with an angel investor.
Since the OP has decided to post a picture prior to any patent being granted, the design is now freely available and they would need to rely on copyright which is an entirely different kettle of fish. Copyright is much easier to achieve but again, would rely on being able to prove you were the first to think of it.

Yes, you can use wood in a metal vice - but do you? I only do it currently because I haven't got my wood vices setup. I'd sooner use a dedicated wood vice (with correct wooden jaws) whether I was making rough cuts or finishing cuts. One, a wood vice does not damage your timber and two, I don't like metal dust and saw dust mixing. My metal vice often gets a dousing in turps, kerosene, oil and all sorts of stuff when I'm working with it - having those things congeal with sawdust isn't fun to pull scoop out of often inaccessible internal crevices.
Secondly the rear lock would be useful if it were able to isolate from the front jaw. I feel like this isn't so much an invention but a pooling of ideas and something that's pretty much already been done with the 'do-all' farm vices which had an anvil, a vice, clamps etc - they occasionally come up for sale. This one here has a rudimentary drill, what looks like a pair of pullers, an anvil and of course a vice.

Unless you are in the USA! They allowed a raft of patents - even a stick from a tree. Google US Patents dysfunctional and you will see what I mean - their whole system is not fit for purpose!

Patented kit rarely includes any truly new concept. Being unlike any similar device should be enough. Also, how many times have items gone into production with the words "pat. pending" on them? Him showing the design before a patent is granted is nothing new. Plenty of stuff has been in production for years without a patent granted.

Thanks for all the comments ! I have a plan for many different versions and many sizes, also such a big vice,like a mammoth, maybe I'll do it next time.
Part 2 vice is the best compromise in my garage,it works best when installed in a pillar head but works well on the corner of the table.
I'll tell you something,based in the true story.
How did it all started.One day I start thinking, I needed an anvil in my garage and so I'm looking for webshops,yes I seeing many models,too much heavy and expensive for my garage,many looks bad and old. I don't needed that every day. I do it myself because I have a little steel stock what I needed and the welding gun gives me more metal all time,every time I ask for it, it's a magic pistol. Next I started the design, hmmmm i need it extra functions too, traditional vice of course and now my mind start running fast to the other end,yes I make horizontal vice too, on the same apparat, like a pliers,locks quickly all pieces and parts to the horizontal position,like an alligator,easy to drill and make a lot more modification,(you can see a bit of this alligator-vice, part 1, in the last picture)........hmmmm next my mind says thanks to those people who are trying to sell too expensive anvils. Thanks if you have read this point and maybe I'll write more sometimes.

Yes, I sometimes have to, due to only having one vice. Yes, I have a workmate type thingy and can clamp in it, but I made a a number of sets of jaw inserts from plastic, alloy, rubber and cork. Glue them to angle plastic strip and put magnetic tape on one side, clip to the metal jaws and job's a good 'un
Made a set for a mate after he saw me using them.

would not bother with dragons den ive not seen the program for a while but when ever i seen a person walk in there with out a paintant they walk away with a flea in there ear stating money pit

I think it looks quite handy. I have micro vices for the hobby industry that swivel and pivot and are on a ball mount to add versatility, but nothing I have seen looks like this....very useful.
