Orbital sanders 230v

My old orbital sander has packed up, It was a Triton which was ok as a part time use thing but now i need a decent one with grunt, I tried a DeWalt one and it seem weak on power i think it was 210 watts, Anybody got ideas? I did see a wickes own brand for £40 with 400watts at that price if it last a year i would be impressed.

Just bought a bosch palm sander similar ilk to the festool and found it as good. Quiet low vibe but sands like a demon. Found a need for a orbital so il be looking at boschs offerings in that format before anything else.

Also extremely prompt with delivery too.
Most power tools I buy come from them. Also on ebay.

I just spotted them on Ebait, The dewalt one is £100 in screwfix and £80 from FFX, screwfix is expensive for tools if you have time to order online...

The Bosch GEX range are very good, managing to remove a lot of material with a very good finish and relatively little vibration. They have an offset roller bearing which achieves the random orbit in which sits a shaft through which the pad retaining bolt fits, after a while the bush gets dust in and starts to drag which undos the mounting bolt, just needs to be lubricated occasionally.
I found that out when a friend complined that he had sheared the bolt he had previously stud locked in place to stop it unscrewing. I told him if he strips the machine I will get the remains of the bolt out, we will see how well that goes.............

I have to admit my last one did well as i used it to flat drywall down which normally clogs the moving parts up, but it was a Christmas rush job but i think a quick airline and lube may have helped

The Bosch range confuses me, GEX PEX? is PEX better then the GEX, The PEX say 400w vs 250w in the GEX..This is worse than top trumps as a kid lol

I don't know, I have only used the GEX125-150 which has a cylindrical dust catcher, the ribbed paper filter works well untill it blocks which is quite quickly.

not to bad if you empty and clean regularly. Chuck an extractor on the end and extraction is superb.

I have the 150mm version with Mirka Abranet disks the built in dust extraction is very good. Am always amazed just how much fine dust the pleated paper filter catches.

Get the 150mm orbital Erbauer from Screwfix. They are a bit weighty, but that's a good thing for a sander. You can plug the hoover straight into the bag socket.

I generally find Toolstop are cheaper than FFX, I have had excellent service from both but the bit I like about Toolstop is that you can order stuff up till 17:15 and still get it next day and I have never had stuff not turn up next day.

From experience the green tools tend to cap out quicker. Internals designed for light diy use rather than being hammered daily
Makes no odds to me I need 120v tools so it's not an option anyway.

I use this 150mm RAS, they do a smaller 125mm too. Having lunched a few cheapies I've had this for a good few years and it's the mutts. I would like a Mirka Deros but the amount of use doesn't justify the additional cost.
