The Never Ending Tool List!

Anyone else have this problem?

I can't think of a week without thinking about adding to my collection!

Typically you can have plenty of tools, But never the one you need.

I think I'm going to need some help for this addiction

We will make sure you know exactly what toys you don't have and need to buy.

unfortunately its not an addiction when you use them for your living. tools wear out and break down. Certain jobs require certain tools and youve got no choice but to buy them. wifes given up protesting now. Lathe and mill are the only tools ive bought that dont earn me money.

they may not earn u money but can sometimes save u it plus its long term investment for family when u cash your cheques in

Don't get me wrong I sadly love buying new tools & making them when need be!

If they help me get the job done easier & faster, Then they're worth the investment.

The tools that do annoy me are the ones you buy thinking they will be helpful, But you never use them & they collect dust!

my cement mixer and wacker plate rarely get used but owe me nothing after there first use. at some point i know there gonna come back out and earn me money.
same with my scafold tower. rarely used but well worth having given hire costs.

Unless they're not interested and it all goes to a house clearance auction..............for folk like us to snap up at bargain prices.

had a drive to do a few years ago, must have been bad timing as i couldn't find a wacker to hire anywhere local. all out.
tracked one down and came across an old belle (proper tyres old) drum mixer in the same place.

my old man took all his tools with him when he moved to portugal unfortunately.

acquired a stihl saw before xmas. again owes me nothing as the job paid for it and wont get used much but will always be there when i need it.

Some stuff just isn't worth hiring!

Atleast having your own you can do jobs at your own pace & generally most tools pay for themselves.

Not mine. All well used
My current list.
Drills are on there way out.
Jigsaw is on borrowed time
Planer is looking very tired
Just replaced a palm sander.
Angle drill needs stripping down and greasing the gearbox
Belt sander needs bearings I think
Want a new tablesaws.
A decent extractor
The list goes on.

What really does make me laugh is the people with all the tools that never looked used!

Worst is the people lined up at the tills at B&Q and the like, with a trolley stacked full of materials and buying all the tools they need to do the job as well. You just know that job isn't going to go well

I resemble that remark, so people keep telling me. Honestly, just because one looks after their tools....

I clean all my tools down after using them & don't throw them around. But some people literally have brand new tools that have never seen any use!

If you've got time to clean all your tools your not working hard enough lol. Know it's been a hard week when you have to empty and reorganise the van on a Sunday. Everything's been slung in wherever it fits to get the flock outta there at a semi reasonable time.

Just done a sump gasket job & all my tools were covered in oil, So probably best they get cleaned before being thrown away

Even when I was on the spanners I would clean the tools I had used at the end of the day & put them back where they belong.

A tidy space is a good thing imo

im glad at one point in asking i never got the tools i asked for so then bought my own

ive replaced cement mixer that we didnt get back

the rest ive added my own tools to it

im blaming some on this forum though

lathe
3 mig welders
2 arc welders one being my own the oil one much better
a hand shaper
steel welding table
a pro tool box

though mig welder was for me to weld up rocket stoves built more of them ever since

but this forums quest for tools is getting out of hand lately and im sticking to it

Same here. It adds no extra time not to treat tools like crap, and a quick wipe or brush down adds little time. It repays in how long tools last.

Are you not thinking there may be some correlation as to why your tools sound to be at deaths door?
