We've never had very good BT broadband where we are (fairly rural). I have done a speed test tonight and got this result from BT. Maybe the issue is at my end.
We have a wireless set up, laptop, tablet, couple of phones and 2 smart TV's. Only ever 3 on the go maximum. Did the test with just my laptop being used.
Home hub is placed near the master socket, in a sensible position and we have two broadband boosters.

Is there anything else we can do to improve this?
Go easy, i'm not very IT savvy!

Mine was worse. 0.06 mb when I nuked it. Been without for 3 years. Same circumstances. Was usable previously then got worse and no matter what they did it never improved
Fibre wasnt an option until last year. Finally bit rhe bullet and connected next week. Checked mormql broadband speeds for my adress and there still dire. Fibre was the only viable option.
Do you make use of btopenzone.
They piggyback domestic routers so possibly a neighbour is connected amd throttling an already slow connection.
Try a third party router if you have one. You can opt out but lose access to the wifi network.

Try with an ethernet cable see what speed you get!

Just done the same test again with broadband connected to the router rather than the booster...the first result was off the booster.

I don't have an ethernet connection on my laptop to try a hard wired test

Looks like your booster is creating a significant bottleneck.

BT infinity is 'fibre'. It's actually 'fibre to the cabinet'. Very few UK residences actually have fibre to the property.

For comparison, copper broadband has a maximum of around 10 Mbps.

I've got about 3.5 Mbps, because we're too far from the exchange (well, green cabinet).

hard wired test would be at top level paul as long as your ethernet connection is fast enough into the pc

one thing that dosnt calculate is its one way not both ways via wireless at some stage it slows down to send info out to receive info back into the system therefore not your actual speed

bad booster or not up to speed on the net connection there is brands that do quote n speed but dont actually run at that spedd tehy can drop to a lower band frequency

We do, best thing about moving to Hull, fastest broadband I’ve ever used and I had very fast virgin media before

If your getting a weak signal around the house why not try moving the router to a more central position in the house, can't see it being as bad as the booster made it

In Hull the are installing fibre from exchange to house, I don't have it though

Stuck to the BT master socket position. Its a twin socket type affair with the normal phone socket and the smaller socket above it. There are other phone sockets in the house but the home hub won't work on them
