Another tool storage question

I have been thinking about getting a tool chest/cabinet for spanners, sockets etc but don't really want a wheeled one as I don't have any floor space to wheel it on

Anyway I have seen a couple of what they are calling "side hanging" which I think may suit my needs. I would just have them either free standing or if required bolted to the wall.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these two and if so how do they rate them?

I've got an SGS box & it does the job fine! Bigger draws that the Halfords Industrial Range also.

They usually hoOK onto the roll cabs,
Nice size and drawers are a half decent size. But would usually go for a wall mounted hanging system rather than a side cab

Thanks, yes look at Halfords and nothing really what I am looking for.

I can easily make up a bracket to hang it on and fix that to the wall.
Not looked for wall mounted stuff but will see if I can find something suitable.

when you buy stuff like this watch for draw depth and length.

some of the boxes are really thin (ie, don't protrude from the wall very far) and some have shallow draws (you wont fit decent sized sockets in)

i would just look on ebay as sometimes sellers list new but damaged roll cabs. then take the wheels off. although the space under them is nice for storing big things.

those side mount cabs would be ok to wall mount, usually they just bolt on where the side handle would go.so you would have to pop the draws out and drill some holes in the back.

Think the ones I have linked should be fine for me, the shallow drawers seem to be about 70mm+ depth and 400 or so back to front.
Just not sure of the quality of them though.
The SGS one is £40 cheaper and looks fairly similar to the US Pro but maybe it is not of the same quality?

I have a couple uspro ones. The bigger ones are better quality than the cheaper but both better than halfords. The ones you linked look very small in width. You wont get a torque wrench or breaker ar in there.

This is the bigger one have. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361701819865 Im sure its eay enough to hang on a wall. The top box would really be better with an extra draw and no lid. The smaller one was 60 quid, cabinet with a draw and box with 4 draws.

It is the room I have that will dictate the size and hence it was the smaller end hang ones I was looking at.
The one you linked to however does look like a great deal, will see if I can rearrange things a bit to see if I can fit that in.

Well I have a 560mm wide space but I can shift the other cabinets along to make an extra 100mm and I only need 60mm so decided to go for the USPro one mentioned above. It is not as deep at the SGS one but has more drawers and it is wider. The drawers are shallower than the SGS one but I think that will be better for my needs. It should be here tomorrow so hopefully I did the right thing

You wont be disappointing with the US pro stuff, the draw runners are sturdy and the cabinets/draws well made. Got it in position today. Seems reasonably decent construction although the upper drawer trims do not match.
It seemed a wee bit wobbly on the wheels but probably would have been better once loaded but I decided to remove them as I can't wheel it around anyway as there is not usually any visible floor in my workshop

For the cost though I think it is pretty good and as I loaded spanners into the drawers they seemed to glide better.

Not really useful for storing large amount of sockets and spanners but I've got one for storing all the other little bits and pieces. (Soldering Irons, Multimeters, Chargers, Calipers, etc.. etc...) Not bad either for only £30.

Its metal, not the most robust thing but not crap either. Just don't fill it with heavy stuff.

Ive an ikea one in red, also a couole of the bisleys like yours too the right. Bisley stuff is cracking quality, if you can get it cheap enough!

Picked up 3 modular trays from Halfords today, spanners, hex/torx etc sockets and some screwdrivers/allen keys/ torx keys. Bleeding things are too big for this US Pro cabinet so I will have to take them out of the modular trays
