Which Sanding Discs?

I'm getting low on Flap Discs & wondered what other people use?

Have seen people using Fibre Sanding Discs also, So didn't know if its worth giving them a go also?

Look forward to hearing peoples recommendations!

Depends what you want to do

I use flap discs for fast material removal and then a fibre disc to polish up if required.

Flap for shaping and near an edge. Fibre for flat work. Normally then finish with a scotch disc

Always just used an assortment of flap discs, but recently been using fibre discs to take last 1mm away. Find them a little slower to remove stock but much more consisent finish.

Is there a massive difference between the brand offerings?

Yes there is a pretty big difference between brands. You get what you pay for, most of the stuff from the better known brands is good. 3m, kingspor, tyrolit, just to mention a few.

I've a selection of 3m cubitron II, and some tyrolit. Both pretty good, the 3m a little better but harder to find at a good price.

Just looked on eBay & nearly had a heart attack! If they last 5 x longer, Then they're worth 5 x the price. But due to not having any personally experience it’s difficult to judge if they're worth the extra!

What price did you get? I remember at one point I was able to find cubitron ii for 15 for 10, and the tyrolit 10 for 10. Not seen prices like that for a while now. I Always keep my eyes peeled on eBay, some good deals come up.

I prefer flap discs, found a reliable source HERE 10 x 115mm 60 grit for £28.82 was about the best I could find (£2,88 each) maybe not the cheapest but great quality and good service - count's for a lot in my book!
