For public gates or private gates where the client is concerned about them getting nicked, how do you make yours theft proof?
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/amp.ti...tune.com/2017/12/19/hms-queen-elizabeth-leak/There's a gravity fed water pipe coming down from the lake District to Preston ,we contract for United Utilities.
The pipe goes under fields, people's gardens ect, you may be driving down a lane and see an old wrought iron gate in the hedge and one opposite across the field, never been opened in fifty years or so they are in a rough line where the pipe is, giving access to the waterboard, right from Preston to the lakes. They started getting nicked, so after we made a replacement u.u.decided it would be cheaper to get us to weld a lump of angle over the top hinge of every one.Me and my mate did 175.
It was great, like treasure hunt,up and down lanes in the country looking for over grown gates ,it took longer to get the welder set up than do the job .Did five or six a day.
Only twice did anyone question what we were doing, vis vests let you do anything.
The gates were big heavy things,no welds just square bars through the top and bottom flats, painted with bitumen, really good condition considering the neglected nature of them.
Bitumen is great stuff.
