Inbalance of freight. Cheaper to send goods out of Scotland than into Scotland.
Having said that UK pallet networks are so cheap compared to other countries. Rip off Britain is only the case qhen it comes to taxes.
To send that in the USA would cost about $500 for the same distance.

As for cartridge starts wasn't there a scene in the original "Flight of the Phoenix" where he uses cartridges to start the engine or have I imagined it ?

My Grandad had little bits of one in his shed for years. He worked on the testbeds for Napier during the war.

Just picked this up Hitch, my father was on R & D for Napiers in London during the war & left in 1950, he was involved with the development of the Sabre engine for the Tempest & Typhoon.

Edit. Just remembered, he was also involved with the Deltic engine, originally designed for marine use, then scaled down for use in the Deltic loco.

Napier Sabre - X24 - awesome! And pretty good when the problems were ironed out.
Wasn't the Deltic something to do with Ricardo?
