wifeys been bitching on the kitchen taps been dripping for a month ive put it off as its a pig to change and would cost 80 quid to replace / looking on internet 2 new inserts 28 quid I took it to bits to see if it would clean out and the seal bust typical on a sunday . looked through screwfix catalogue and there available went and picked a couple up and had them fitted in less than half hour . grand total price the pair 7 quid .

I've done this so many times, put something off because it will be a ball ache and then find it takes less than an hour.

I've been ignoring it for ages but seeing as it is raining and the silicone gun fell out of the cupboard i thought I would do it. Literally 5 minutes a door and it looks a first class job. Should have done it ages ago

Just let it dry for 6-8 months and it should be ready to paint

Just let it dry for 6-8 months and it should be ready to paint

You shouldn't rush these jobs Paul , caulk can take a while to dry. I'd leave it till next Christmas to be sure it's set.

Need to tile the wall behind the utility room sink because the wall is a mess - bought the tiles on line yesterday and been out this morning to buy trim, adhesive and grout. She's getting grand ideas that it will be done over Christmas. I have other plans

Congrats, I finished in April and have not missed work for 0.025uS .. I do miss the banter with the lads but thats another story.

She retires on Wednesday next week and I suspect my happy go lucky semi bachelor lifestyle may take a bit of a battering but remember you have worked hard for your retirement so enjoy it!

Been retired nearly 8 years now & love every minute of it. Never missed work at all. I was taken round the pub on my last day thinking "how quickly can I get away without offending them"

On the plumbing subject, Just been to see BIL, He got a call from an elderly widow friend early this morning,She was worried because the loft tank was overflowing through the pipe, BIL stopped it by operating it a few times but told her to get a plumber to look at it, Her daughter rang a plumber that came and looked at it, Charged her £170-00, "Wait for it" Said that he hadn't got any spares and will come back tomorrow, Whats the chance of never seeing the robbing b@st@rd ever again,

I keep some of them inserts in my tool box as it’s an easy job and customers think they are getting a big extra

I do odd jobs for old folk sometimes if its not major. if owt happens I tell them to ring me and I will get them someone that wont rip them off .and never to get anyone going round tapping on the door

That’s not good, I rarely do Sunday call outs but it’s £150 if you insist (agreed up front) and I’d have changed the valve as well

i cant see what all the fuss is about most trades dont like doing there own trades when they come home from work infact they tend to avoid them something shocking

the coment is true if you do the same work all week you dont want to do it at weekend

some of you are lucky you can leave your trade at work but many cant do as it still needs to get done

Like ours, I get to work all day and do all the fix jobs that you miserable lot are complaining about and Mrs KF gets to do all the .........Err..
