Another,"look what got chucked away"

Local scrappys got this in today,apparently tucked away in some corner of a shed after a clearence

So were looking at some punching shearing machine from around the early 1900's possibly(model type i'm still trying to find out)
I know one thing,it was bloody heavy could hardly drag it across the floor,its also seized solid.
Scrap value is not even a fiver,told the lads not to put it in the bin for a while.
So chaps,any more light put on this old tool?

That's a nice little bit of kit. Can't believe they were going to scrap it. Bench mounted metal shears

BENCH you got to be joking,have to be one strong bench trust me this monster is really heavy
Like i said,told the guys not to put in the big bin yet,i'll see the guvnor tomorrow see what he'll take for it,i reckon a few cans of WD40 might wake it back to life

That is a fantastic find. A modern day equivalent can go £600 plus. It be a nice winter refurbishing project

They use one of those at my local scrappy to cut up longer lengths of Ali and copper to fit in the pallet tubs.
Surprised that they didn't want to keep it.

I love restoring stuff like this. It will take more than a few cans of WD40!

If you want to let it go to a good home, I'd happily buy it off you....

They have a more 3 phase 21st century thing now that you put the metal in one end press the foot pedal and it cuts it just like that

Samson (Elliott) used to make these along with angle benders. I managed to get an angle bender for the princely sum of $50! They're great fun to restore, and also good as anchors! Very, very heavy!

I've been trying to find some info on that thing. Wouldn't be surprised if its missing an irreplaceable part.

Love the complex look of the mechanism though. What a beast.

of course someone will know where to get a new blade if ness but in the past I used a modified peice of broken truck leaf spring as a temp blade........
lasted over 20 years till I got a bigger machine.......oh the new owner is still using it with the spring blade.......
