Budget angle grinder

Looking for opinions on best budget angle grinders?

My old Halfords one took a beating with some gas bottles , can hear it spinning but the blade mount doesn' spin.

Any budget angle grinders recommended?

Depends on usage, but Lidl/Aldi ones can do the job, at least for a while - and they're as cheap as chips.

I swear by McAllister ones from B & Q. Abused the life out of the first one I bought & it just doesn't want to stop working. Cut concrete & steel with it.

3 Year warranty apparently, Also my local B & Q is local if I had an issue on a evening/weekend.

Paid £15 for mine each, But they might have gone up since then!

Aldi and Lidl, Are great for value but are a bit on the large size for single handed use for extended periods,

I try to avoid their power tools. Got a cordless drill thats gone back for repair more than once!

I got a hardly used Ryobi 750W grinder with some grinding discs from a car boot for £10! I think it would have been about £30 new. It's been great so far and it has had a fair bit of use. Light enough to use one-handed unlike my Aldi 1200W one which is a bit heavy.

I too would steer clear of Silverline power tools. What about this Bosch one on offer at Screwfix?

My machine mart special is a joy to use and never lets me down. My Hitachi rattles like a bucket full of nuts and bolts and I don't like it at all.

Disc exploded within seconds, fan came out the slots in bits, smoking pile of scrap within a very short time, it was a present, beware presents!

Yes i purchased 3 band q ones...first one popped as i turned it on and flicked the switch.

Second one still working last time i tried it.

3rd one still in the box.

It might be worth holding out & seeing if B & Q are going to do their 2 for £30 offer or they might do a Black Friday Deal?

You can never have too many angle grinders!

That Bosch GWS 710 at Screwfix is interesting, it looks very similar to the GWS 7-115 - I can't see any difference in specs and a bargain at that price and if it's from their professional range then 3 year warranty.

In the last 20 years I've killed 2 Makita grinders but I will buy Makita again, I bought a "budget" draper that is falling apart in less than a year. I'm not even going to bother taking it back under warranty as it's cheap nasty junk compared to the Makita's I've had.

My thoughts exactly. Never buy cheap power tools. Works out more expensive long term.

got to agree i would never buy a cheap grinder had one once was not nice to use bosch and dewalt for me they last me year in use everyday chance the bushes from time to time. i have got one of the bosch from screwfix really nice to use

Me too, the Makita grinders are great, tough and compact. I have a habit of killing cheapo grinders. Had a cheap Bosch from their DIY range that lasted quite well though.

My old Halfords 308122 grinder motor spins but the mount for the disk doesnt.is this just the bushes ?

Fecking seek , died as I needed to make chimney for burner.

aldi one is pretty good but like has allready been stated theyre a bit on the heavy side.
the best compact grinder i ever had was a tiny NUtool angle grinder that could fit in the tightest of spaces and was a whopping £8.99
i had it for years and it took one hell of a bashing until i lent it out and it came back broken i got my tenner back out of the lender though so had a free grinder for all that time.
unfortunately ive never had another come close to how good that little one was.
theyre either
powerfull but huge and heavy.
tiny and underpowered and break easy
midsized and still break easy
then again ive never spent more than £50 on a grinder and ive had the last one (a jcb grinder) for a number of years.
i bought an aldi one just as a back up as it was too cheap to pass on
