Wifi with username and password

At uni, you connect to the WiFi like this:


Which is fine for laptops and phones but I want to connect a Sonos (WiFi speaker) to it and that only gives the option to enter a password:



Any idea how I can solve this? I've got a travel router (That's the "SONOSAP" in the first image) but I can't seem to get that to connect properly either.

They're a bit useless in there, I've emailed the CICS so I'll see what they say but they haven't got back to me yet.

create a wifi hotspot using your phone? think it should work though not 100%....

That would work but I've only got a gig of data and I can't waste it as I won't be able to use Google maps to find my way around.

Eduroam is cool, you will be able to use that in many, many places.

I have one of those TP Link Nano Routers, from memory you can set it up in relay mode.
You log the Nano onto the Eduroam network and then you log the Sonos onto the Nano.

IIRC most phones when setup as a WiFi hotspot will only use your cellular data to get to the internet as it can't work in bridge mode

Thats what seemed to happen to me....despite being on tbe hotspot it used my data allowance to stream to the chromecast.

I totally missed that. I was trying to get it working for pre drinks at out flat. It was only 4 when I was doing that anyway, I can't start drinking at 4, that would make slurring "Large chips please" twelve hours later at Broomhill Friery even harder.


Anyway, CICS (Forget what it stands for but the IT people) say "The use of devices which extend the network are not permitted" and apparently the way Sonos broadcast to other Sonoses (Soni?) counts as extending the network.

I did get it working by putting the router in hotspot mode connected to the guest WiFi and running it off that but it's not the best connection and kept dropping out.

I'll look into this DD-WRT then.
