It's getting on for Halloween, so I thought i would have a play making a tea-light.

Rather than mess with bits of thin stuff and bend it round to shape thought I would have a go with some left over square tube. This stuff is 70mm box, 12 gauge so around 2.7 mm thick.



I would need to sort out a jig to accurately centre the cutting , but it will do for now.

I might have to copy that idea, did you do the design freehand or use a stencil of some sort?

The cat I have on a bought in dxf bunch of files, the pumpkin I just drew in cad and I basically used my CNC to do.

Hi Gordon, yes it is working fine, not done a lot with it due to the garden project, but its raining now.

Well the wife, as she does, had a few, just minor criticisms, The cut outs were not centred and could be bigger, so today as well as putting away the ironing, hovering and a few minor house hold chores, watching cartoons and keeping away from the J kyle show, I spent a bit of time at the PC changing the drawing slightly and measuring up, then cut another piece, should be my last as I have no more 70mm tube.



I have been looking on line for some cheap coloured glass tube, all I tend to find is replacements for vape or E cigs, think they are small for a tea light and the bit of paper I placed in there is a bit much with a candle behind it.

Anyway would be glad of any ideas of what to use that is heat proof.

Must go get stuff ready for dinner.

How hot does the metal surface get, is it just radiated heat. You could possibly use 4 pieces of coloured gel sheet as used in stage lighting.

It does not get hot really, there is no problems picking up the metal, I think it is large enough to dissipate any radiated heat it gets, so gel sheet could be fine. I will get some and try, thanks for the idea.

doh sorry read what you wanted wrong Tin cans to cut with the plasma cutter but you want gels or something to make the colour glow nice, plastic or perspex might melt, glass possibly

Proper gels like these would be fine - stage lighting will belt out more heat than a night light candle
