The driver bit in your pic @spencer 427 looks to be rounded off from a slip
Now before you go down the route of judgement based on this were you using it in the correct sizes Phillips screw. Even the very best of drivers will do this on a forceful turn if you use a Phillips driver in a pozi drive screw or a screw that's way to big or small for it. If it was used with the proper screw then yes that's a crap tool but if it was used on a pozi drive then there is every chance it's gonna slip if it's tight and give your driver edges a hard time.

The Op's picture doesnt look like posi, the blades are too thin. I came across the same problem this week with a yank home built aircraft, they'd used alsorts of head types, in the most inaccessible places

The ops pic is almost certainly a Phillips driver but if it's been driven particularly hard into a pozi screw head then this can happen. I have an old mini screwdriver set from snap On and I did the same thing . It hasn't deemed it useless but it slipped and damaged the edges. As you can see in pic 1. A lot of people think a pozi drive screw is a Phillips and tbf 9/10 you'll get away with using a Phillips driver but when they are tight the risk is there of a slippage.
Last two pics for the op. Pozi drive screws not Phillips and a very old but in perfect shape pozi driver as it's only been used for pozi screws.

We originally had all craftsman stuff at work, the spanners were fine, the sockets were fine but the ratchets weren't that great. Not very comfy and quite course. The 1/4" drive ones were really rubbish.
But their stubby spanners were some of the best I've come across, properly short and much better for a tight squeeze than any of the snap-on ones that replaced them.

I have a set of craftsmen spanners, brought back from canada some years back, I have only managed to slightly bruise the jaw on one by the abuse of putting larger one in to undo stubborn nut, I dont give tools a easy time and would say they are very good, my preferance now with price also in mind is halfords pro spanners, yes I do have various snap on, loverly but overpriced by 50% new, mine all second hand.snap on box made in canada ,oldish,is a corker though again second hand.
the long snap on "aircraft" spanners are my favorite due to extra leverage....

Mine were all bought as single items during my apprentice days
I built them up over a good few years. 4-32mm
much more expensive way to do it but on £60 a week it was the only affordable way to obtain them. Glad I stuck it out as 17 years of daily use they still perform perfect. Never had to return one of them.
Here they are sitting in the top of my FOD travel box.

I love kit that actually earns it keep rather than show piece boxes, its earned its place ,paid its way and now earns at no cost, same with all tools really,if its good it will stay if not i have no reason to keep it.

I've got a fair bit of the craftsman and gearwrench stuff (the packaging in sears is often so similar I'd always thought they were pretty much same thing). I got stuck with a bunch of seized stainless bolts one weekend and only had the 17mm ratchet spanner to use on one side - it got totally abused but has never shown any signs of giving up. Also got a craftsman "vortex" socket set - pass through types - and it's paid for itself several times over. The ratchet spanners are no where near as long as the snap on ones so I guess the mechanism might not be as strong, but tbh it all seems to be pretty decent stuff. But that's bought from sears - I don't know where the eBay stuff is sourced.

I'd say with the exchange rate at the moment the Halfords stuff is probably a better bet, and as said further up, it makes the warranty easier.

To be fair their straight neck and goose neck gripers are pretty good, I've got a pair of each from when we changed tools and they take a decent amount of abuse.

Then it might be a very good set mate. Can't blame the poor driver if you try to force it down the wrong hole

Goes for any screwdrivers mate. Like I say I have done exactly the same to one of my best snap On ones by simply not paying attention and letting it slip in a pozi drive screw. This was recently as well
You don't wanna make a habit of it . My pozi drivers are well over 10 years old and the tips are perfect. Good drivers last for many many years if they are allowed to bite the screws and not slip.
Terminal drivers however don't last me 6months before I twist em up. And I'm not even a sparky yet I still go through the things quickly.
