About High deposition rods (7024 7028)

Hi to all.
Out of curiosity, are High deposition rods (7024 7028) still used?

I was wondering if, given the marvellous Mig Mag machines available nowadays,
these types of rod are obsolete.
After all, if I understand correctly, they were created to be production rods.

And another thing, what is the advantage in using a (random numbers )
3.2mm 7024 versus a 4mm 6013?

High Recovery - Iron Powder Coating
Low spatter, easy releasing slag

6013
60,000psi tensitle
All positions (except vertical down, although not always)
Rutile coating - medium diffusible hydrogen - not suitable for thick plates or structural application
Low Recovery
Slag not always easy to release
More spatter

ESAB OK 46.00 (6013) 4.0mm Deposition Rate = 1.6kg/hour weld metal

ESAB OK Femax 33.80 (7024) 3.2mm Depostion Rate = 2.5kg/hour

i believe this was a high deposit rod it burnt fast as i could move i found them in the scrap this week they were wet and some were battered chucked um in the oven looks like a 5mm rod 250 amps

Wish you made that comment on 6013 positions the other year. Me and dan both have some that are actually rated for v down also, never seen it previously but they have various insurance approvals.
